If there’s one purchase that could ever complement a roll of Hulk/Spider-Man Team-Up-printed toilet paper, I suppose it’d be an X-Men themed toilet. Bleeding Cool found another oddity of eBay - - a toilet whose every inch is covered with panels, pages, posters and covers from the blockbuster Claremont/ Lee run on X-MEN from the early 90s. I’ll agree that it’s hard to tell if this is meant as a work of insult or tribute, especially since the auctioneer makes a point to mention that Claremont’s name is displayed at the base. I will say, however, that this is some work of art. I don’t even know how to classify it.
That starting price right now is just under five hundred bucks and nobody’s bid on it yet, so if any of you Comic Vine maniacs are interested in this piece for that figure, you still have two days left to bid. I was particularly amused by the note in the official listing saying that it’ll be “shipped” by Greyhound or delivered personally if the buyer lives within 300 miles of Atlanta. If you’ve ever tried to life a toilet, then that specification shouldn’t be shocking. I’m sure the postage would be ASTRONOMIC given the weight.
The other question that might be going through your mind - - it was the first one to go through mine – is if this four-color mosaic can be adequately used to “take care of business.” == TEASER ==

A disclaimer: I CAN NOT guarantee the efficacy of this art piece if it were to be installed as a working toilet. It would probably work, but water will find a way into the smallest pinhole and the bowl interior is possibly subject to degradation. The exterior is likely immune to problems, and as far as I know the actual plumbing in the tank is still functional. But again, I would hate to think that all the work that went into the bowl could possibly be flushed away, along with the fact that the fully covered back of the tank would be butted up against a wall and never be seen. But once you own it, it would be your choice as to how strongly you feel about......using it.
So the thing is sort of like the ol' matchstick castle. Impressive to look at, but caught in a precarious balance wherein its doom lies in its very function. I suppose this would be a great conversation piece in the living room, or perhaps even a seat to put next to the futon?
What say you, Comic Vine community? Please, let your opinions flow freely, let me see the breadth of their color, texture and consistency. Would you want this openly original oddity for $500? Or, perhaps, would you prefer another comic to adorn your toilet?
