    In Season 5, Scott is mourning Phoenix's death. However, Jean appears in subsequent episodes of the Dark Phoenix saga as well as episodes following "No Mutant Is An Island". Was this simply terrible writing or did I miss where Jean died again?

    @burnbabyburn:

    Doesn't she turn into the Phoenix and leave for a couple of episodes then returns as the Dark Phoenix. Afterwards she gets into trouble with the Shi'ar for destroying a star system and kills herself but the Phoenix itself resurrects Jean with a piece of the X-Men's life force.

    @ursaber:

    Yes, but that all happens before Season 5. In Season 5, Scott has a solo episode where he is mourning her death and leaves the mansion. This episode happens after the Phoenix and Dark Phoenix episodes in Season 3 as well as the Beyond Good and Evil episodes in Season 4 where Phoenix has become just Jean.

    I think it was because Season 5 had a lot of troubles and was noticeably below quality and polish than the previous seasons. Maybe the episodes are disorganized.

    So Jean became Phoenix completely after Phoenix revived her at the end of Dark Phoenix Saga? I can't quite recall.

    Agreed on the quality and polish. I don't think that the episodes are disorganized. As I said, Jean appears in episodes following the Phoenix Saga in Seasons 3 and 4.

    No, Jean never returned to being Phoenix. However, that is how the episode is summarized in "No Mutant is an Island". Honestly, the episode does not make sense at all, unless it was aired during the Phoenix saga. Jean never truly died in the cartoon series.

    @burnbabyburn: Three episodes were scripted to be part of season 3 but were held back due to animation problems. These are No Mutant Is an Island, A Deal with the Devil, and Longshot. These episodes were replaced with The Juggernaut Returns, Nightcrawler, and Weapon X, Lies, & Videotape which were scripted for season 4.

    From the end of the 5 part Phoenix Saga, the viewing order should be:

    No Mutant Is an Island

    Obsession

    Longshot

    Cold Comfort

    Savage Land, Strange Heart (2 parts), then The Dark Phoenix Saga (4 part)

    Okay, that makes much more sense. Thanks for the info.
