As we approach the Age of X-Man and it's no love, no sadness mantra. I thought it would be cool if we thought of other Alternate Realities that would be an interesting reset for the world and temporary break from canon in the same vein as Age of X-Man, Age of Apocalypse and Age of X.

    TRY TO INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

How did we get there? (Legion, time travel, deleted a character, changed an event)

    What is different?

What would the change be (to characters or the world) to 616 after it was over.

Let’s start with some Jean ones, before I go into other characters:

    •Red Queens rule

Reason: As creepy as the Red Queens Reality was, it made sense given her personality and goals the way everything was run. So, let’s continue with it!

How the X-Men get there: Red Queen take Nathan Summers, Rachel Grey’s, Jean Grey’s, and Nate Grey’s Powers before taking over the Hellfire Club as Red Queen. She then remakes the world in her image.

Differences: Obviously, Red Queen is reigning monarch. She will not install any Kings in her kingdoms so that they can focus on her rules and whatever Queen is in power under her. She will however have consorts or Princes, by her side like how a Nate was. (Only in chanins and collars) A dominating pet aspect that the Hellfire Club is known for. Though instead of Nate (please never Nate), put someone feral or feral looking, like Wolverine or Nightcrawler. Other rulers in power would include Emma Frost as White Queen, and Selene as Black Queen. Red Queen May rule most of the world, but areas like Latveria or Wakanda are still under their respective rulers powers and must cooperate or risk invasion.

Lasting changes: Madelyne would be a focus and would ultimately be a heroine to the world, but an anti-hero barely to the X-Men and villain with her own motives at worst to them. Wolverine or Nightcrawler would feel equally as uncomfortable as they are needy of Jean because of how Red Queen treats them. Outside of Jean, they’d be aggressive, trying to prove that they run their own lives and then change when they think Jean is in the room. Scott will be, well, Scott. Withdrawn, fearful of any sign of power from Jean, and might distance himself from anyone, but will still try to be the rock everyone needs, especially Jean’s but at arms length due to trust issues. (At least he would have a better reason to be distant since this is more personal and ruining the image of the person he sees as perfect) Rachel, Nate, and Nathan will have underlying fear of Jean, but will push it aside for Jeans sake. Emma Frost will either go back to being the Black King or make this her chance to make a move on Scott. The rest of the X-Men will distrust Jean’s motives whenever she makes a suggestion, and maybe for those who suffered the most, hate Jean irrationally. Jean herself will be traumatized, depressed to a very dangerous point, and reserved much like Scott.

Next up: Jean Grey Death Seed (AoA)

Reason: X-terminate left things open ended and Jean is one of the best choices to be Apocalypse that any writer has made.

How the X-Men get there: Wolvie has daydreams about AoA Jean and Jean picks up these thoughts. When the last of the AoA team express a wish for help in checking on the AoA reality, Jean volunteers to accompany them. When they get there, they find AoA Jean has become Apocalypse and wants to spread her influence beyond this universe and the X-Men must stop her.

Differences: The AoA reality is made of a universe of Apocalypse propaganda. The Earth now has Metropolises built on the ruins of the battle between Apocalypse and the Celestials, from Celestial tech, Celestial Powers, Apocalypse own power, and even some bodies of the dead Celestials. The inhabitants are now composed of Mister Sinisters army of AoA Jean Grey’s and a select few who have survived the battle (and joined Apocalypse obviously) ‘children’. (Basically little Nate’s and Rachel’s and other offspring from different parent alongside Jeans genetics) Apocalypse Jean is obviously the ruler. Sinister is the advisor who is kept at arms length, but close enough for Apocalypse to keep an eye on. The Horsemen are composed of the Celeste Cuckoo as Pestilence (a clone child of Emma and Jean combined via what was leftover of Emma’s genetic material and Wolvie’s and Jamie Madroxes DNA; Celeste has all of her parents abilities heightened by Celestial technology when she was created to surpass your run-of-the-mill Jean Grey with a healing factor and duplication abilities more superior than Jamie’s), Galactus as Famine, Scott as War (I know this may seem like a step down from Galactus, but I’m taking into account the Celestial tech available to enhance him and his strategic mind), and Nightcrawler as Death (brought back from death; his powers are developed further to emulate a Horsemen with different abilities, like summoning a solidified brimstone horse, igniting the brimstone smelling smoke of his teleports, nearly immortal, he gains he Soul Sword somehow, can create a haze of his smoke without needing to teleport multiple times, etc.).

Lasting Effects: Unfortunately, this will partly be a Phoenix story. The stakes are high enough to need it. The damage won’t really travel into the 616 beyond the characters themselves. The AoA survivors stay where they are rather than going back to the 616. Jean will have to confront her feelings for Logan and whether she wants to do anything with them. Logan will have his Jean Grey troubles taking a first step into moving on (in what way depends on Jeans decision). Cable, Nate Grey, Rachel Summers, and Hope Summers will get an eye full of Grey children that could spark their curiosity of their limits and potential once more. (I doubt the characters will ever stop, but this is one of those situations that brings it up again) Scott will stay behind to pick up what Jean leaves behind temporarily, taking on more responsibility in the X-Men. (I highly doubt Cyclops would be involved into everything at the mansion like he used to. It will be a slow character development) Rachel will feel despair at seeing another world suffering much like the Days of Future Past timeline. Hope Summers feel the Phoenix flashes of the AoA timeline to rid the Death Seed and its host once more and will also feel more growth in her power once she leaves it all behind. Rachel and Jean will mentor her (like how it should have been in AvX). Nate will feel that same level despair that Rachel does, only it will be about his own identity. (Another thing that never really goes away, just as Logan) Jean, Logan, and Cable will do damage control on the sad puppies. One of the AoA villains makes it to the 616. (I’m thinking either Apocalypse Jean depowered a bit to match regular Apocalypses powers of the 616 in combination with Jeans powers rather than Celestial levels of power. Another suggestion would be AoA Nightcrawler in his Death form, ready to serve the real Apocalypse. Or both.)

    Age of X-Men

What happened- The majority of non mutant superhumans are erased from history.

Changes- Wolverine takes Captain America's place as a war hero. Disappearing after the war.

A Young Magneto becomes a Doom like figure in Europe. Eventually rising to power just as the mutant population Boom begins to spark.

Namor is accepted as a mutant world leader, but is under pressure by Magnetos Germany to strike out against humans.

As WW3 looms Xavier leads his first team of X-Men to stop Magneto from faking an attack on Atlantis.

In modern times the X-Men are seen as

Global super stars with Xavier as their leader.

Magneto now an elderly man who's country is on the decline seeks to rejuvenate himself by aligning with Apocalypse.

Apocalypse and Magneto begin spreading fourth the idea of Mutants dominating the planet and taking what's theirs. Causing riots the first waves of Anti-mutant sentiment.

Apocalypse plans to unleash a genetic bomb that will unleash a human targeting Legacy virus but needs a celestial device lost in a confrontation Namor and Wolverine during WWII.

While some members of the X-Men go hunting for the legendary Wolverine. The rest must hold the world together while preparing to battle Magnetos forces.

Results- Magneto would come out of this Younger and at his peak of power. But with a hatred for Apocalypse that would have him actively going to war with him in the regular world.

Xavier would come out of this feeling like he has somehow failed the X-Men since he wasnt able to let them achieve as much of a difference while the leaders within the X-Men would struggle to figure out how to make the struggling team more like the massive force for mutant and human protection that it was in the other world.

@koays: yeah I like this for sure.....

So this is sort of a way to reset the Xmen using an AU??

If so I'm not exactly sure how I would do it but I'd find a way reset/reboot everything and even retell some stories that don't age too well lol

    @red_paladin_: thanks

@hawk2916: Lol basically its just warping reality however you see fit. Either by making one little change or making a major one and seeing how things turned out for the world because of it.

You can reset the whole team, change a decision, however it happens just has to have an explanation.

I never really like these alternate reality crossovers as they are usually just bloated "what if" stories that are intended to garner attention out of shock value.

It's always just sort of silly that the death or absence of one character would be all that pernicious to a point where the entire reality is changed. I always thought it was sort of weird that without the existence of the X-men Apocalypse would have ruled the world. What about Thor, Namor, Hercules?? Wouldn't they have stopped him?? Their existence had nothing to do with Xavier.

@cattlebattle: Not necessarily just cash grabbing.

Some stories are just that. Ways to tell stories. It really just depends on Marvel’s motivation. Example: The Ultimate Universe was its own thing and because it was an alternate, they can rewrite everything, put a twist on stories we have read before. Unlike What If stories, here we can actually connect with the characters. Actually, even What If? stories are just that. Example, ‘What If? Phoenix never died and tried to be normal.”

We don’t get pure shock value, but rather a story of Jean dealing with the loss of her powers only to regain them in a distressing time and then try to hide her nature to stay with her family.

You’re not entirely wrong though, as that Apocalypse arc thing they did before IvX happened was just pure cash grab and not at all about telling stories. (Colossus was not the most threatening Horsemen, nor did they do anything interesting with him)

    @koays said:

All good, so would Forge be the Age of X-men's Tony Stark?

    Yes and no.

I see him as being a tech giant on Starks level with everyone using Forged by Forge technology. But with zero concern for the impact of his technology on the world. He basically has an idea builds it and damn the consequences. Like I could see him studying Trask blueprints for antimutant weapons and improving them just because he can.
