Apocalypse sends his Horsemen to wreak chaos upon the world. Meanwhile, Rogue returns to Muir Island to find out the truth about Dr Adler and his machine. She intimidates Adler - who is actually Mystique - into revealing her true colors, and learns that Apocalypse controls his Horsemen by channeling their anger, and the location of his base beneath the Stonehenge. Picking a moment when Rogue turns her back to her, Mystique shoots Rogue and destroys the machine, leaving no chance of changing the Horsemen back.

The X-Men, lead by Cyclops, counterattack the Horsemen and force them to retreat to Stonehenge. Having followed their enemies, the X-Men find Rogue fighting a losing battle against Apocalypse. During the following fight Rogue touches Archangel and absorbs his anger, making him realize what he has become.

Apocalypse and the three remaining Horsemen escape. Archangel asks Rogue not to give in to the anger that's now inside her, saying that he wasn't strong enough before flying off.
