Exodus reveals the inevitable
In this third and final issue of this Lost Tribes arc, we see Rouge's decision to call in some of Cyclops's soliders into Wolverine's struggle against the mutant prophet Exodus. While generation hope is eager to lend a hand and show their worth to Logan, the X-men turned teacher is less than willing to share another battle with young mutants.
It is odd that the first story arc of Legacy since X-men Re-genesis would quickly cut to the core of the split mutant matter. Where as Uncanny X-men and Wolverine and the X-men have put some distance between the child warrior debate and each book has spun off into different story threads, Legacy decides to give Rouge a chance to examine the longer effects of the X-men's Schism.
Once both teams have decided to combine forces, Rouge and Hope's abilities make short work of Exodus who single handedly stone walled Wolverine and friends last issue. But of course, the two teams spent way too much time bickering over their causes before just shutting up and saving the day.
The longer implications of this arc incude a vague omen from Blind and a break in trust between Logan and Rouge. This could lead to some soul searching on Rouge's part, which should serve interesting as she is one of the many mutants whose lives have been fractured by the schism. It feels too soon to talk about, but Exodus literally jumped into the story to remind all of us that it is only a matter of time before the remaining mutants are back under one roof.
Christos Gage has written a very interesting arc that shows not only the flaws in the Schism story line but also digs deep in Rouge's feelings. David Baldeon's pencils excel with this large brawl featuring two x-teams and plenty of action. There is something stylized in the way Baldeon draws faces that isn't quite right, but at the same time works.
X-men Legacy # 263: Lost Tribes 3 is a solid conclusion to a short and concise arc. It's got some sweet stylized artwork and larger than life throw-downs featuring multiple X-teams. Pick it up if you enjoyed the previous two issues, or you can't wait for a trade of this interesting trilogy.
