    Second Coming: Revalations

Okay, this mission just got very, very weird and infinitely more difficult.   This is the bridging issue for this 3 issue mini tie-in to the Second Coming storyline.   Essentially a team of X-Men, Young X-Men were thrown together to be led by Cannonball on a retrieval mission.   The target was Illyana Rasputin, (a.k.a Magik, a.k.a. Darkchylde), the destination was Limbo, and the risk was evaluated at high.   The team itself consisted of people that normally wouldn’t ever go to Limbo, and a pair of kids that had been there and been damaged permanently by their experience.

Limbo, for those of you who aren’t familiar with, is a dark dimension filled with various demons and magical monsters that warps and distorts perceptions of time and space.   Fun, right?   To get some background on the situation people that didn’t read the Young X-men story-line that involved Limbo and Illyana could be a little confused.   In a nutshell during that time, Darkchylde was going to take all of Pixie’s soul so that she would be able to take down the current ruler of Limbo, the demon/sorcerer Balasco.   Illyana had been trapped there for a very long time and this story arc was a huge effort to set up her re-emergence to the continuity.   Anole lost his original arm and it grew back into the way he appears now.   We discovered that Rockslide could survive with out a body.   (Some people would call that a trait that may link him to the “Omega” level class.)   Pixie, lost part of her soul and received her soul dagger.   There is definitely a reason for them to have the resentment that they have, which explains a lot of what happens in this issue.

Another not to be aware of when you read this issue goes back to a time when Gambit decided to cross over and work for Apocalypse as the Horseman Death.   During that time he was given a couple new powers…Nothing like what we witness in this issue.

The team entered Limbo and became instantly separated.   These small units are battling demons in many different ways.   Think of the temptation that 100000 devils could offer you in a “trade.”   The way that Limbo is affecting everybody is pretty unique to each character and the story leaves twist after twist, and you just can’t help but anticipate the next issue.

The art was awesome the writing was amazing.   I think this team, or part of it could be stuck in Limbo after this mini ends next month.   I just don’t know how they can resolve everything that has gone on in a single book.

Cannonball's team's mission to find Magik turns SNAFU when they run into Death, Gambit's evil new persona.  The Good The tone of this issue certainly lives up the setting. You feel as overwhelmed as the mutant task force must feel as they're assailed by demons on all sides and time is slipping away from them in nightmarish loop. Yost's handling of these larger-than-life personalities is consistently compelling - - whether it's Nor...
