X-Men: Apocalypse is looking to be one heck of an epic film, and now, director Bryan Singer has released a few shots from the set of the 2016 film on his Instagram account, and frankly, it looks pretty awesome. The first image is of the streets of Cairo after a battle or some sort of destructive force.

So what destroyed Cairo in 1983? We're going to jump the gun and just say "Apocalypse." While that was a pretty cool insight into the upcoming film, the nest image was just so cool.

That's a pretty epic statue and it's so cool to see practical set dressings instead of everything completely computer generated, even though it's obvious the outdoor scenes will have some of that. Anyway, just look at the height! What do you think of the set?

I was pleasantly surprised to see people haven't given up on real sets, it's kind of why I didn't like Avatar, the new Star Wars or even Agents of Shield, everything felt CG and fake, I couldn't escape into the scene or believe it

I'm sure the movie will be great but everytime I see these pictures I can't help but imagine that Singer has a major hardon for himself.

I hope apocalypse is the best on screen villain of all time. I hope his performance is more intimidating and chilling than ledgers joker plus some, so all these people crying about Ivan ooze can choke on their words. Just be happy the movie is being made, and for the love of doom, shut up..

I was reading an issue with Storm and was reminded that Cairo is part of her origin story. Maybe the first set photo is when she first gets her powers or she has a fight there.

For all the bitching people do about Apocalypse (despite the fact that the CGI is not done and that everyone bitched about QS prior to see him in context of the film)...Singer has never made a bad X-Men movie.

@docholiday: I showed "Aliens" to my students last year and they were amazed and what was accomplished without CGI.

DOFP is my 2nd favorite comic book movie ever. The hype for this is unreal!

I grew up watching films with either limited CGI (I remember being told it was 'trick photography') and Organic Effects, great films like Terminator, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Blob, etc.
