A classic X-Men comic so long ago...

    Review:

It's been about more than a decade since I held on to this. Wow. Depite that this is a old issue I still found it enjoyable, and I only got it because of the front cover of Cyclops, who seems to be in agony. You could say this was my first X-men comic, heh. I don't know what happened previously, but Apocalypse has contained some of the most powerful Mutants (Xavier, Cyclops, Phoenix, Storm, Iceman, Cable, Sunfire, Bishop, Rasputin, Magneto, Polaris) in orbs to absorb their powers through an ancient machine made by the Celestal Gods and become a unstoppible God, and use Nate Grey's "body" to contain these powers. The skrulls are also here as they revolt against their own for their survival while assissting the X-men, and as the Mutants manage to break free Bishop absorbs the insane Monoliths' energy to stop him from causing any harm. But what's even more shocking was the ending, as Scott makes a bold move to sacrifice himself to save Nate and everyone he loves, esspecially Jean. He merges with Apocalypes to become the ultimate God... and that's the end...well, not exactlly.

Because of the classic art designing, the memberible characters, a touching moments, and a nostalic feeling, I really like this one and it goes to show that no matter how old an issue is, it'll always be just as good as when the time you brought it. But like most things, there's always nitpicking. The first thing that kinda got me annoyed was the writing. Altough it doesn't have that much campy dialouge, their were times when characters stated the obvious. Like when Bishop absorbs Monoliths enery, he explains it. Jean goes into Apocalypse mind, she explains it. And speaking of Jean, or Phoenix rather, shouldn't she be going all out on Apocalypse and talk like a goddess? She may just have it's powers while still being herself, that's the only explanition I can think of. And finally, WHERE THE HELL IS WOLVERINE? He's not seen nor even mentioned at all. Could he be on another journey, taken out by an old enemy, or just messing around with some other chick? You'd think with an event like this going on he'd be the first one to jump into the action. Anyway, if you love these classic 90's X-men comics compared to the modern ones and manage to find this, then give it a shot.
