It would be cool because i love her and her story line but she can't support a movie on her own there are not enough people outside of the comic world who know who she is.
She would only appear in a Wolverine film or X-Men: Second Class/New X-Men type of movie.
Considering that they still haven't made movies for most Marvel properties (especially X-related) with a larger fan base/longer history, it won't be for a while. Sorry.
It may be a while if they did, as long as they do a good job. I have a feeling the role would probably go to Megan Fox so god I hope they take their time with it. lmao
and im also with the idea that no actress (known) is right for the character. i think the solid bet would be for them to shop around outside of the US/UK actor market for an unknown, possibly a model, preferably someone short and very scrawny, someone who could dedicate their full attention to the project.
and they would be foolish to not go for a movie/show whatever at this point considering the worldwide success of Wolverine. the public would eat X-23 up. every teenage girl would want to be just like her.

i think only comic fans do that. the public is a little more open. they are very differant. maybe its just because i want to see something done. but i think shes a cash cow. for one, shes a comic character. market demographics already showed a long time ago that boys to not have any favoritism as far as female nor male characters are concerned ( an assumption annalists had made in the past). so shes a shoe in for that group. shes a young female hero, and really cool how she goes about it, with a tough attitude. corners the girls market. that leaves adults. while she isnt Wolverine nor just like him, she is relevant to his world, and right now Wolverine is a hot commodity and has been since the first X-Men film. needless to say that market is covered...worldwide. shes very merchandisable as well, being a character that would interest all markets. finally, she already had a few runs in media, specifically in the Evolution animated and the current Wolverine And The X-Men, and she has caught on extremely well to persons who dont read the comics, in varied sexes and age groups, whom ive talked to some of personally as they wanted to know where to get more of her character in reading and merchandise. so really, if i worked for Marvel or Sony, i wouldve taken advantage of this window of opportunity at the very least after the Target X series came out. major loss in theyre part if they dont see this, like in the millions at least.
If they did do a movie, I would hope Joss Whedon would direct it. He's got very good taste. Every film he directs has wonderful dialogue, scenes, and great camera angles. I'm aware it's not just the director that makes the movie, but they can really add the finishing touch to a masterpiece.
If they filmed part of X-23's past and part of her rehabilitation, I'd say someone else for the youth scenes, and Summer Glau for the older teen part (perhaps 17 or into early 20's). Perhaps. I realize age is a factor, but her portrayal of 'River' from Firefly would be almost identical to what a role for Laura would require. I'd trade excellent, dead-on acting for looking a few years older than role anytime! Besides, it's amazing what good make-up and lighting can do.
Not sure who I would pick for younger Laura. Probably a fresh talent.
Also, I believe Laura would hold great appeal for the public because she is new and fresh. It's easy to jump into her world. You don't need to scavenge through dozens of longboxes to learn her back story. She's based on modern day technology and modern day violence. Her story would fit in one movie. A sequel (if popular) could be made based on rehabilitation, facility coming back for her, etc. If fans want to find out more about her and venture into comics, they will find it achievable: two graphic novels and you know quite a bit about Laura. About 6 or 7 more in total (some with only brief showings; primarily NYX, NXM and X-force), and you learn her whole story. You can understand anything that comes up in comics thereafter.
I really hope she doesnt get a movie deal as a character. She is one of the lamest characters ive ever had the unfortunate knowlage of knowing of. I mean how man mutants and relations can you get to Wolverine without it being completely distasteful and silly, apparently she hits the nail on the head. I dont agree with foot spikes and i dont agree with the mistreatment of Wolverines genetic data in such a horrible manner. The day i see a live action attempt of her in a movie preview is the day i lose faith in our motion entertianment industry.
