The Craziness Continues...
I honestly think this is one of the most satisfying cross over events in recent memory. Maybe I was just tired of all the overly complicated stories that have been told lately and was ready for an old fashioned slug fest between the heroes with little plot. If all 5 issues are nothing more then a huge fight, then maybe it'll get old before the last issue finds it's way in my hands, but so far I'm enjoying the ride.
Sure there isn't much plot in this issue, but we get to see some of Marvel's biggest teams scrambling and trying to find a way to stop the Hulk. Every team member acts perfectly in character, even though it's done in broad strokes, no one can complain that their actions don't make sense. I think some people might think it's a little odd that teams like the Avengers and Fantastic Four have been able to contain the Hulk in the past, but now are having a hell of a time coming up with what to do when they're all together. Rest assured that it's all done in great fashion.
I have to say that I really liked how what's going on in Incredible Hulk was handled in this issue. During the Civil War cross over we had to re-read the same events in different issues and sometimes it made a few issues seem completely pointless. Here the events of Incredible Hulk are acknowledged in 2 or 3 panels and that's it. It shows exactly when Hercules and his team confront the Hulk, and that's really all that was needed. It's also done in such a way that if you're not reading Incredible Hulk what you see in this issue doesn't really need any explanation.
I do think that the last splash page of this issue will not have the same effect on everyone. Some people will groan and what they can expect for the next issue, while other people will look forward to it. It's impossible to comment further on it without coming right out and spoiling the last page, but I will say I'm of the later opinion and am looking forward to issue #3.
