    Wonder Woman

Character » Wonder Woman appears in 8808 issues.

The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.

First off let me be clear, I hate Fox.  I also don't love wonder woman or her new costume.
That said, it's weird that this was on Fox news.   I found it funny that the idiot who wrote it called her Diana PRINCE instead of princess Diana. They also let you vote on the best costume and the old one is in the lead with 82%

New Wonder Woman Loses Patriotic Costume in Favor of 'Globalized' Duds

"The new and allegedly improved Wonder Woman (a.k.a Diana Prince), has been given a head-to-toe makeover by artist Jim Lee, replacing her signature American flag decorated briefs with skintight black pants and purging the super hero of all her trappings of Americana."

PS I also hate ABCNNBCBS too not just FOX, the whole Mass Media is a joke.

A character with no storyline roots to America loses a superfluous part of her classic costume in favour of an outfit which will most likely end up being temporary?

@InnerVenom123:  In the new story she does, I think. I mean, I never understood the point of the stars and stripes on the old costume anyways. It's not like America owned her or something.

Trying to get a job with a name like "Princess Diana" probably would not garner much in the way of interviews, and she was trying to fit into human society.

The costume was a nod of respect by the Amazons to the American government to show that she was a friendly, I think they've pretty well established what side she's on (various pretty color rings notwithstanding) so the Americanized costume is no longer needed.

She's not American.  Unless they're using the modern variant of patriot, protecting the simple man from the government, she wasn't ever a "patriot", merely a supporter of our country's ideologies.

All that being said...IT'S A COMIC BOOK CHARACTER.

Damn I hate the MSM.  All of them.

Next they're gonna say we need to boycott Wonder Woman because the Amazons are lesbians. Or just free, independent women who don't need men to run their lives, whichever frightens FOX the most.

The mainstream media is always pretty ignorant about how comics work. I remember there being a big deal about Cap's death which was something any comic reader would know wasn't going to be permanent.

I don't care for her new globalized costume.

Hopefully it will be a short lived costume.

She is a member of the Justice League of America.
So, wearing the stars and stripes is a good idea.

They said the new outfit is for the live action movie since the starry panties weren't going to work.
It also gave her a ore global appeal. And everyone hates the US. WW is about justice not America since the US now isn't like the US of the 1940s, we're more like the Germany from the 30s.

Odd day yesterday with Wonder Woman on Fox and Catwoman in the New York Post.

FOX News overreacting and drumming up hysteria with an assumption based on a half truth that could be easily cleared up by speaking to anyone actually involved? That doesn't sound like them at all /sarcasm The only good thing about FOX News (and perhaps this article), is that it gives Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert plenty of material.

@Sparda:  She wore the colors of the country she would be visiting as she would be an ambassador to there from The-mascara. And going off the American flag in jet that crash landed they used the gold lining and eagle, blue with stars and red to make her uniform.  The metal bracelets, tiara, boots, and lasso all were mystical weapons. Mostly the lasso to make people tell the truth.

I never understood when in crisis of two earths (wonder woman's best performance) when earth 2 Luthor came in the room, why Jon had to read his mind, Luther could have tricked that, why not just put the lasso of truth on him too? God power has to be stronger than martian. Anyway, they always under use that thing. And as good as the action was in that movie the plot was weird. Threaten to blow up the world yet being deterred before by nukes. That didn't make sense. If wasting the planet didn't bother them and they could survive it some how, then why would nukes bother them?

It's funny because Gail Simone actually retconned the American symbolism of her costume in the last arc. The red came from the hunter's moon, the stars were the night sky, and the eagle was also flying above them. The symbols of America now according to the story is just a coincidence.
