what did you think of this issue. Me i thought wonder woman kick so much ass i hope we get Faora and WW rematch next issue also god mode.
Wonder Woman
Character » Wonder Woman appears in 8807 issues.
The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.
SUPERMAN/WONDER WOMAN #5 your thoughts?
Haven't got my copy yet but Looking forward to it now!
Don’t want to sound cliché, but
1. haters gonna hate;
2. the beautiful art is beautiful.
If seriously, best action filled issue this title seen so far (Di kicked multiple asses), that Diana’s line – “like so many daughters, I only come to you when I need you” – is absolutely true. So many children, both daughters and sons, come to their parents only when they in trouble…
Finally WW is allowed to show some kick ass scene! Is this one of her best fight so far in new52? The other is the fight against Darkseid? I wish we can see some good feats in her own issue.
honestly, probably the best depiction of WW thus far in the new 52, i would love for soule to take over once azz's run is over on the ww book. he seems to get diana alot better than johns and even more so then lobdell
Yeah.... She kicked ass
I was holding my breath that they would not cheat her with some type of..... BULL SH*T
Was a good issue for her
She showed leadership and Fighting abilities. I love the NEW 52 Wonder Woman Justice League War was also a good showing for her even thou the dialog sucked lol
I am so glad she did not have her LASSO with her. Made the battle more interesting.
I been saying this for years Wonder Woman is the WARRIOR
Superman has always been a TANK more suited for strength feats against the environment.
Of course I am sure powerwoman will come on complaining she did not move the earth or something blah blah blah.
I'm snowed in, my birthday is Sunday, so I'm waiting until then to get this issue. I've read ALL the spoilers, so I know I'll enjoy it and that it will be worth the wait.
I wonder when SuperWondy will show up and complain?
I could fulfil that role but I've got my hands full on another thread with an even more precocious fan of the couple :P
Does anyone know how many issues will be collected in the first trade?
I haven't read the series yet because when it was announced i decided to buy in trade if it gets good reviews and it has so i will buy the trade.
@scorpio_cassadine: Happy Birthday

@lvenger: no problem. I call out SuperWondy cus I'm sure SW has alts that she/he uses to agree and quote her/him.
Quite good. But still, her power levels seem nerfed compared to Superman's.
Is Superman really so inept, fighting-wise? It was something I didn't really feel comfortable with although I realize Soule is doing something along this road. Just not quite sure what.
I think I need to catch up on Justice League -- I feel a little lost in trying to understand both Superman and Wonder Woman in this book.

The point was to emphasis that Superman is not a trained fighter while everyone else in the mix was so he was a little lost. It mirrors the Scene in Man Of Steel when he fought Faora
Honestly, I can't think of one being superman has ever fought at his powerlevel who has been extensively trained.....accept Wonder Woman
Great issue, Soule and Daniel are keeping the high quality of the series so far. I am so happy new52 Faora looks almost exactly like Antje Traue from MoS, she was one of my favourite parts of that movie.
I hope people are shutting up about Diana being the damsel in distress in this series. Clark played the dude in distress in this issue and needed to get his ass saved by Diana lest he be beaten to a pulp by Zod and Faora.
@wdw: lol
Honestly, I can't think of one being superman has ever fought at his powerlevel who has been extensively trained.....accept Wonder Woman
Well, Orion is on his level when it comes to strength and durability and he is a trained fighter, though not a very elegant one. Same is true of Kalibak.
Martian Manhunter is also at his level, but his way of fighting is very different. As is Maxima. In the New 52 H'El seemed to know better than Kal what could be done... and I somehow doubt Helspont is just a skull-faced version of Mongul.

@scorpio_cassadine happy early birthday
@wdw good observation; usually the characters on superman's level are powerful enough that they don't really need special combat skills.
Superman need skills?Lol
When superman sneeze destroy solar system,he isnt need it
Unless,Superman become weaker,a super-weak charater,so,skill can help him

I'm really not entirely sure you're quite aware of the different eras/universes of comic books. Golden Age and Silver Age characters are different characters with different capabilities, same with Post Crisis and New 52 versions. These are different characters with different powers, different personalities and different histories. Silver Age Superman destroyed solar systems with sneezes but he is a different character to Post Crisis and New 52 Superman.
On the plus side, I managed to understand that post.
@r2datu: I know,that why silver age superman dont need skills,he was enough powerful
Only superman become weak,he need skills help him
@r2datu: I know,that why silver age superman dont need skills,he was enough powerful

Well ... yes? But this comic didn't have Silver Age Superman? This is New 52 Superman ... Again, I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.
@r2datu: New 52 superman too weak,he need skill
Superman should be lift our entire universe
Not just earth,that was weak feats,he need back silver age level
Superman should be lift our entire universe

Meh, I'd rather not. Out of curiosity, do you read comics simply for feats?

I dont want to other charater close to superman
I really loved this issue; the panel time on Wonder Woman's barefeet on Paradise Island was good artwork strategy; I liked her battle with the demon; makes you wonder if other creatures had time to escape. With that issue, I'm sold to Superman/Wonder Woman; I'll be buying this issue and subscribing; this artist is very good and to my taste, so far; hopefully he keeps this course and keeps using the panel space like he did in this issue. Wonder Woman was smart in her help of Superman; I really hope that the Wonder Woman solo can catch up with the nice use of panel time focus that this issue produced; the panel time was well focused on Wonder Woman and her barefeet and the art was very much my taste and comic book type art work. I will be subscribing, but, I must admit, I had very low expectations that I could like this book, based upon this parring, and thought it would be my least favorite, and deserving to be ignored by me; good thing I decided to take a peak every once in a while, based off reviews (e.g. initially, people wasn't liking it and that attracted me); so far, the best Wonder Woman material in quite some time from my perspective; even though there were high points here and there, in the Wonder Woman publication his, since Messner-Loebs' run, this issue was certainly the best Wonder Woman material in a while, due to the use of panel time focus on Wonder Woman and her feet and her battle with the escaped demon. This definitely must be taking place in the present, since the Amazons are still snakes and Hippolyta is still a statue; Chiang could have done the same panel focus back around Wonder Woman #2, but didn't, as Wonder Woman should walk barefoot, at least, on Paradise Island, and at every available opportunity. My favorite pick of the issue is:
Had this been Chiang, based on his pattern, he would have taken us to the Superman battle, after Wonder Woman talked to Hippolyta and wasted this panel opportunity/space on some type of interaction with Zola or one of the Olympians. I wonder if the use of panel time is at the discretion of the artist or is it writer directed?

I can only understand about half of what you said, but the point I am trying to make is that in every the majority of those stories, his powers are not Silver Age level. He wasn't sneezing galaxies away or lifting universes. He was challenged physically and mentally by opponents that are close to him in power, which you don't want to happen. You said if Superman loses, then there is no hope (or at least, I think you said that, I'm never to sure) but one of your favorite stories is Death of Superman that is primarily about him losing. Another of your stories was War of the Supermen, which had Superman being defeated multiple times. Superman New Krypton also had him being challenged and defeated. Superman Godfall had Superman depowered. All Star Superman had Supes de-powered for long portions and at one point he lost to Jimmy Olson in a fight.
You say you want Superman to have Silver Age level powers and that you don't want any characters to be even close to him when it comes to power, but if this happens, none of your favorite stories would have been possible. Do you want that?

I don't think you quite understand what you want.
- Started strong with development of Wonder Woman and her own past then took a twist toward the groan-worthy when it turns out she was there just to get fainty over a boy, but then, I guess that's the point of this book
- Batman and Superman both apparently think WW is a sulk, so huh on them
- Good fight, I like how they're emphasizing Diana's training
- Must we have the bickering couple mid-fight? Surely they fought together a whole lot in their years in the JL, they should be a well-oiled machine, but then, I guess that's the point of this book
- Still totally digging the kryptonian military ware, and Faora is off to a great start
Loved this issue for all the various reasons stated above. I also really dug that Diana's animal empathy has apparently made it's return in the new 52 ( I really can't remember it being shown before).
I'm interested in her teaching Clark how to fight, should make for a satisfying ending to this solid first arc.
