    Wonder Woman

Character » Wonder Woman appears in 8719 issues.

The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.

Aquaman and Atlantis look epic compared to WW and Themyscira

It has a lot of great CGI visuals and epic battles. Aquaman casually lifts a submarine. Atlantis looks beautiful and is technologically advanced. James Wan seems to have done a great job. It is clear that Aquaman has a really big budget compared to WW 2017.

DC trusted Aquaman and gave a bigger budget while WW had one of the worst CGI battle because of budget issues.

    @agent41:

They need all the upcoming films to be a hit if they want a real cinematic universe.

Yes but they absolutely need Aquaman to be a hit, to recover from the setback which is The Justice League also Aquaman is a joke in Pop Culture this is the best opportunity to change that.

And i expect a WW than does more than lifting a tank in the second film. Because all that talking about her being a powerhouse warrior with godly powers, yet almost no epic action and display of extrordinary power?. Makes no sense.

Heh, is that not comic accurate to contemporary Wonder Woman?

Zach Snyder was producer and also wrote part of the script . He could have easily supervised the CGI scenes .They had CGI specialist from Life of Pi, one of best CGI movies as VFX supervisor .

WB pretty much trusted Aquaman to do well in box office than WW. I hope WW84 has over 200 million production budget and epic CGI fights

    Maybe because:

    • They wanted Themyscira to look like a real place rather than a dreamworld?
    • That they know the CGI, no matter how good it looks right now, will look dated af in a few years?
    • That Jenkins had a preference for practical effects over CGI?

@agent41: To be fair DCEU Diana didnt get many opportunities to prove herself yet. In WW the only real treat she Encountered was Ares and she was never going to beat him without plot conveniences. Deep down we both knew DC wasnot going to let her outshine Superman against Steppenwolf or DD so I didnt count them. Another issue with Diana is due to her main movies occurring in the past it kind of limit how powerful she can be. How do you explain her not going "God Mode" in BvS and Justice League.

This WW doesn't have much of the powerhouse warrior hype but being a God killer, which she is. Hopefully WW84 will have Diana engage in awesome battles which doesn't end with plot conveniences or Superman showing up.

@geraldofvengerberg: By the time WW was in production Synder control of DCEU was waning but we still saw his influence in some shots like the slomos. They A CGI specialist? Never would of guess that by watching the movie.

Again WB trusted Wan and they need Aquaman to do well so they won't be cheap.

Hopefully 84 will have a good plot and a better villain than Ares. Some cool mini boss fights wouldn't hurt either. MoS had Faora and Non, Aquaman seems to have a few villains: The Trench, Ocean Master and Black Manta.

Or maybe Patty Jenkins just sucks as a comic book movie director.

I've been down on the Wonder Woman film since before it was made, because what I wanted for us Aquaman fans are getting. That's comic book accurate epicness that respects the source material. Comparing the Aquaman trailer to Wonder Woman is like comparing Gal Gadot to Amber Heard, no contest. One is a peanut-butter sandwich the other is a Reeses's cup.

It's upsetting that DC had such little faith and a small budget for Wonder Woman. She doesn't even get to fly.

Go watch Wonder Woman 2009 animated movie ,clash of Titans , Disney Hercules or read WW comics and you will see Greek Roman, magic and tech fantasy elements that was missing from the movie .

Well you know I don't mind telling you. I'm a Wonder Woman fan. Not an apologist or excuses maker, but a purest. I'm not embarrassed by her like DC seems to be and I feel like we deserve comic book accurateness like everybody else. There was NO respect shown to the source material beginning with the casting of Gal Gadot who looks nothing like Wonder Woman to me. Henry Cavill looks exactly like Superman. Ben Affleck makes a great Batman. We got a skinny chick in a new costume designed to hide that fact. They then went on to change her origin, her time period and her powers and we're supposed to just sit back and accept it, because the movie says "Wonder Woman" in it's title. I don't accept table scraps, especially when Aquaman fans are getting a four course meal.

But he shouldn't outshine everybody. He made the jl look redundant when he is around.

    Agreed.

The time line is not a problem.

Could be, imagine if 84 gave Diana flight and other abilities, how would that affect continuity?

All movies have cannon fodder and then the big boss.

Not the DCEU movies, the only ones who did was Suicide Squad & Justice League and even then it was minuscule compared to MCU fodder fights. DC seems to prefer mini boss & Vs Heroes fights over cannon fodder. Still the action in WW was underwhelming.

The movie had a God as the main villain. They could have done much more.

Let's hope they bring their A game this time.

    Yeah.

Not necessarily. Good CGI is good CGI.

Take Transformers, a movie that is 11 years old, yet still looks better than 99.9% of films released today. And I HIGHLY doubt that'll change in the future, since real looks real.

Even movies that have aged badly, they have done so because they never really did look all that realistic in the first place. As a kid, though I did think the SM cgi look good, it never fooled me that it was real. Same with films like Jurassic Park or even Man of Steel.

You are this boards answer to a very old man who snarks and spits the moment something isn't entirely to your liking.

Yeah and we got that, but you are still whining because it wasn't what you wanted. Everyone else is happy with the WW movie, except you.

So on top of everything else, the very old man has lost his glasses or his memory about how there is a hundred different versions on how Wonder Woman should look. So yet again, it boils down to you, not the movie or Gal Gadot.

Not the first adaptation (keep that word in mind, maybe look it up because it actually means something) to do so.

Fine then don't watch the movie, I am pretty sure no one in the theater is going to miss an elderly man shouting at how everything is wrong.

@agent41: DC movies don't put emphasis on fodder fights like MCU, looks at The Avengers & Thor movies. The time period could be an issue as the ones set in the past need to follow the limit for Wonder Woman set by BvS/Justice League. Will WW hold back even against opponents like Doomsday and Steppenwolf? Again I agree with the last part.

@agent41: Should of been more clear earlier, when I said BvS limited her. I wasn't referring to power level but more along the lines of setting a tricky precedent concerning her abilities and capabilities such as taking away flight and making her overly depended on gear. Its going to be difficult to retroactively expand Diana's powerset without people questioning why she doesnt use them in modern time. People are already wondering why she didnt go "God Mode" of Steppenwolf's ass.

Didnt know the budget force them to downgrade the first movie fight scenes, hopefully that doesnt happen with WW84 and WW actually come out looking powerful.

But it doesn't remain good CGI. LotR for instance got rave praise for Gollum, and back then he looked great, but look at him today and it's not so great.

The problem with Aquaman is that already at this stage, you can tell when the whole scene is CGI and which ones are not. It's like Steppenwolf, and it's not like JL had too small a budget.

Wonder Woman was always a mediocre character, and her solo film was made good by Steve Trevor. Aquaman looks like he will actually be an interesting character, and will be able to carry the lead role. In other words, Aquaman's actual competency is exposing every previous 'DCEU masterpiece'.

It's your opinion, The Topic here is DC not giving the same budget to WW for CGI as Aquaman and Man of steel not WW's character.
