razzatazz's Wonder Woman #69 - The Seeds of Peril! review

    Mixed Bag

This issue contains three unrelated stories.   The first one was beyond the realm of ridiculous as Mercurians (people from the planet Mercury) are intending to use Earth as a staging point for their attacks on Jupiter so they use mushroom seeds to destroy the planet.   At one point Wonder Woman has to stop a skyscraper from falling over which is the highlight of the story.   The contrived plot to stop the seeds from destroying the center of the Earth made little sense though.    In the second story Wonder Woman travels to Leprechaun University, and the leprechauns within have information for Diana.   She actually showed up in the past at various times to help human history stay on course.   She decides to see why and ends up intervening in the invention of the printing press, Columbus’ journey to the New World, the ride of Paul Revere and the first flight at Kitty Hawk.   In each case she stops comic book like threats from stopping these historic events.   In the third story she is invited to an Old West town (which inexplicably still existed in the 1950s) and acts as its sheriff.   The usual plot of getting captured and bound by her own lasso follows.   The stories in this issue were either too silly, or when they seem to be going somewhere, the plot killed the momentum.   Still overall it was fun enough, though only of average interest.
