Messing With Us
There is a lot to like in this issue. It is pretty much absent of any action, but that is completely understandable in comparison to the story arc, in which many issues have been overwhelmingly based on action. Here a suave looking Doctor Psycho is taking Diana through the dark recesses of her mind, allowing her to rediscover who she is. I enjoyed the part how it told various origins of her as it sort of sort of reminded me of the Perez explanation of where the Amazons came from, but put an interesting twist on it. The reinvention of Doctor Psycho an ally was interesting. I am not a Doctor Psycho fan but I felt the treatment he was given here was good. Still his reasoning behind helping Diana ran a little contrary to publication history - basically amounting to having a crush on Diana. So that's what made him kill all those people and hate women. I thought that was kind of a weak aspect. In the end though he explains to Diana what it is she has to reclaim, and at the end of the issue she presumably has gotten it. Another good issue in the run. I also liked the homages to past uniforms (there was even some elseworlds though didn't pick out mod girl) and Diana's job at the end is a definite throwback as well.
