Review: Wonder Woman 609

Wonder Woman has been on an Odyssey for a while now, and now it looks like she is begining to get back to her normal self. Wonder Woman fan should start getting excited!

THE GOOD:
In this issue we get a little more information on what is going on with Diana and the time line. In this issue she takes a walk with Dr. Phyco and he tells her about her past lives. He also tells her the real Wonder Woman's origin, how Hipolita sculpted her from clay and her grew up and brought a man back to the man's world. I really am loving this because they are putting some of the old Diana in! The artwork is really good. This whole story arc has had two diffrent artist working on it and it has become a little annoying but Don Kranmer penciled the whole book. Something he hasn't done since issue 601! Another thing, the lettters page is here! Finally we can see what people are saying about it and gets some answers! There are some really good ideas and Brian Cunningham gives us a slight scoop on what is coming to Diana after Odyssey!

THE BAD:
Dr. Phyco helping Diana really confused me. He almost makes it seem like he likes her. While I think the idea is a great idea, I don't like the idea of Diana having several lives in the past. The whole reincarnation things really gets to me sometimes. Also at the very end, a new Wonder Woman wakes up from the hospital, and I really though it was the real Diana, so I was really excited, but it is just another alternate reality. Diana Prince is a RN and Etta Candy is a Doctor. That is not really a bad thing but I was so excited and to just find out that it is not the real Diana, was not a great feeling. (I also found myself feeling a bit stupid.)

THE VERDICT: 4/5 (Great)
Again, I really do think Phil Hester is doing amazing things on his run of Wonder Woman. I really hope they keep him a little while after Odyssey is over. Wonder Woman fans, this issue is an issue I would strongly recommend. However, the problem for me (I am a huge Wonder Woman fan) is always waiting until the next issue in another mounth! If you are interested in Wonder Woman, I would read this issue but I also think it will be more amazing if you go but all the way from issue 600. The first few issues are amazing but they are good. Or just get from 605, I don't think you will be confussed if you start there. This issue has really, got me excited about the future of Wonder Woman.

There is a lot to like in this issue. It is pretty much absent of any action, but that is completely understandable in comparison to the story arc, in which many issues have been overwhelmingly based on action. Here a suave looking Doctor Psycho is taking Diana through the dark recesses of her mind, allowing her to rediscover who she is. I've been trying to give this series a chance since the title character is my favorite heroine of all-time. That being said, I can't help but think I've been wasting three dollars a month since this revised origin took place in issue #601.
