    The spark

This issue is a bit of an oddity as it is basically the character saying goodbye to both the supporting characters and the readers with the end of the series.  This happens often enough, but here the series is not really ending as the third volume was already in the plans.  The issue starts with Diana being plucked from the ocean by the gods, only to be told that in addition to the Amazons leaving that the gods leave as well.  This leaves Diana without a country and she thus relinquishes her role as ambassador.  Her friends are not so eager to see her leave but she reasons with them and they see that this can be the spark for something bigger.  At the end Diana is remotivated by the words of her followers.  This is a pretty good issue, lacking in action but also heavy in sentimentality and morality to make up for it.

It is true that nothing is finished, only abandoned in this issue that would perhaps be the true finale of Wonder Woman. Greg Rucka's writing nudges itself in, with a lot of explaining and plenty of sentimental scenes where supporters are cheering the almost lost Wonder Woman. The climax of this issue is where she questions herself, her beliefs and her ability to fulfil her position as Wonder Woman and questioning the readers with questions such as "Would she die?", "Would she lose her powers?" ...
