razzatazz's Wonder Woman #18 - Expatriate, Part 1: That Wears the Crown review

I didn't know where this all came from

Suffice to say for anyone following the previous issues since the relaunch, this issue came as somewhat of a surprise.  At this point I am not particularly opposed to a romance between Diana and Tom, but still I don't think enough groundwork had been laid for all of a sudden Diana to show up and announce she has feelings for him.  So far all that has happened between the two have been some coy remarks by Tom and a few times where Diana accidentally landed on him creating the face-to-face sexual tension.  Still in comparison to that what happens next was even stranger as Diana is quickly whisked away to the Khund home world where she finds Etta waiting for her.  I am not a big fan of the mythology stories being mixed with sci fi stories with this character and that is avoided here, but the abrupt change from mostly mythology based stories thus far since the relaunch makes this even more all the alarming.  It is still telling an interesting story though and creates a decent enough issue.

Thankfully, Simone is capable of nailing the voice of Wond...

First - I was shocked to see artists change. The Dodsons have defined Wonder Woman for me and Chang's rendition, though not bad, just isn't as good. Now for the worst parts - the writing! I was so shocked that this was the same Gail Simone who wrote the excellent story arc previously about Hippolyta and her guards. I literally checked the cover three times to see if I was wrong. Suddenly, this writer who has done several issues is completely changing Diana's dialect and mannerisms and basically ...
