Reintroduction
This issue is part of a two part arc which deals with the reintroduction of the Silver Swan. The Silver Swan was a late silver age introduction to Wonder Woman’s enemies, but one which made a lasting impression. The character despises Wonder Woman most of all for her beauty. However, unlike other previous issues this was not as highlighted, rather others in Diana’s supporting cast (Vanessa and Etta) are seen having the same issues in reference to Diana’s beauty. I thought this was a clever way to reintroduce and frame the character who is otherwise only motivated by Diana’s beauty. In this way it touches on an important issue in society of how women are presented to the public and the ideals which they are expected to conform to. This wasn’t the best issue ever but was still fairly interesting and deserves praise for dealing with this topic. The issue of relationship abuse is brought up in the Silver Swan’s past.
