@deathpoolthet1000: I doubt that's the reasoning, but my point is the Michigan State team uses those colors because they are the school colors, it has nothing to do with the animal.
@deathpoolthet1000: Wolverines original mask had much smaller "horns" and whisker patterns that were actually somewhat reminiscent of A wolverine's face. Dave Cockrum drew Wolverine's iconic costume with the larger protrusions by mistake and they decided to stick with it because it looked cooler.

Well to me his Hulk 180 costume looks more like a cat.
