To no one's surprise, it looks like that the most popular X-Man will return for another solo film! According to Deadline, Twentieth Century Fox is negotiating with the director of The Wolverine, James Mangold, and, of course, Hugh Jackman, to give the admantium-laced hero another movie. We have no idea what the character's status will be after X-Men: Days of Future Past, but seeing as The Wolverine is the second highest grossing X-Men flick, it's understandable he'd be back for more.

    No Caption Provided

The website states Mangold is negotiating to write the movie's treatment and Lauren Shuler Donner will producer. The Wolverine was inspired by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller's mini-series, so what would you want to see the next movie inspired by? Could they find a way to make 'Enemy of the State' or even 'Old Man Logan' work now that Mark Millar is the creative consultant for Fox's movie properties? Could it link to X-Force? Anyhow, let us know below what you think of Mangold potentially directing again and what you'd like to see in Logan's next film!

Isn't it like wolverine 3? or are we not counting the origins? Oh well, i still count it as part of the wolverine movies, so if the next one is the last ( which i hope it is, as much as i love to see him as wolverine, enough is enough ) that would be a trilogy?

Seeing as it's currently untitled, I saw no reason why I couldn't refer to it as 'The Wolverine 2.'

I really read that title wrong. Forgetting the directors name I thought the poster was making a joke.

James Howlett -> James Mangold -> Wolverine racking in cash. -.-

I really enjoy the XMen/Wolverine films. I wish Marvel backed them more but as usual money comes first instead of "art" and fans.

The first Wolverine film & "The Wolverine" were two of the worst films i've ever seen in my life. Any Marvel films not made by Marvel Studios, I will automatically assume they suck unless Spider-Man is involved in which case if ASM2 isn't good i'm complete done with anything Marvel Studios doesn't touch.

I want James Mangold to make another X-Men movie not another Wolverine film. For me The Wolverine was great emotional closure and journey for the character. Unless they have another just essentially story arc to adapt like say Old Man Logan which could easily be made to fit the limitations of FOX's IP portfolio.

If this is how they launch the rumored X-Force film that could be something. Base it off the recent 2010ish run where it was Wolve and Co. fighting the radical humanist people that'd be awesome. Always wanted to see the The Purifiers on screen (even if that's unlikely)

@borahsarak: Comics,Movies, and all creative mediums don't "have to be" anything.

I actually enjoyed the last wolverine movie. It had it's flaws but it was definitely a step in the right direction. So I'm really hoping they can nail it this time.

I liked about two-thirds of The Wolverine. The end kind of fell apart a little bit though, and Viper was a pretty terrible character (I can't really speak to the comic version). I'm all for giving Mangold another shot at a solo film for the character.

i dont really care about wolverine movie right now. i want my wolverine movie to be r rated. i mean come on that is what wolverine feet in to. he slice and dice. i wanna see a little blood pop out when he slash some bad guys. i wouldt mind if the wolverine will be as bloody as 300. its gonna be awesome, and lastly, i wanna see slow motion similar to that of 300 movie. omega red should be the main villain for the movie. in fact i wanna see a team up between wolverine and deadpool.

Old Man Logan would be so BAD4$$! Imagine, Old Logan witH Old Blind Hawkeye driving in tHe spider mobile figHting all tHose unique versions of Marvel cHaracters.

But tHey'll probably make a movie inspired by Enemy of tHe State before Old Man Logan.

Besides non comicbook fans would be more attracted to Wolverine: Enemy of tHe STATE, tHan Wolverine: Old Man... like... wHat Wolverines old on tHis one?

I mean it is a bit confusing tHat Wolverine finally aged and Hawkeye was able to see Him old wHen before Hawkeye was 29 and Wolverine was well over 150.

Mangold is perfect. Comic book movies need more Nolanish directors. What do I mean by Nolanish? I mean the fact that WB and DC went out and looked for talent. Nolan at the time made Memento and Following. Both great movies. Many people back then were wondering how did WB come to this decision? It's actually quite simple. CBMs need great directors. Great movies needs great directors... Simple as that. Aronofsky and Anderson are two directors I hope will make CBMs in the future as well.

Wolverine was one of the best CBMs in my opinion. Although the last bit was pretty messy, The Wolverine is nevertheless still solid. Mangold is new to action so it'll take time like Nolan but eventually he'll make Marvel's own "Dark Knight". A great CBM movie with class and great filmmaking. Something Marvel is lacking.

*EDIT: HE also needs a cart de blanche. Wolverine was trying SOOO HARD to be R Rated material but it was PG13... I felt like a lot of blood was removed by CGI... I mean some stuff were hardcore in teh movie.

Agreed. We don't need CGI Mech robots. Old Man Logan would be so awesome! But I don't they'll do an alternate future now that FOX is doing Days of Future Past. An original Omega Red story would be awesome!

Okay, James Mangold gave us 3/4 of a great Wolverine movie, and I won't blame him at all for the other horrendous quarter. But I think it's clear at this point that Fox is never going to let a Wolverine movie be good from beginning to end. Hugh Jackman's gotta be getting sick of being Wolverine. They should just let the Wolverine movies die and focus on the full X-Men films. Cash cow that Wolvie is though, they're not going to stop.
