And the Circus Leaves Town
This was a light read, and wasn't terrible or good either.
We get the final showdown and epilogue of Frankenstein's Murder Circus. The X-Men are no longer under the brainwashing spell, and ready to kill the undead clowns. This was mostly action. We do get some story of a young Frankenstein putting on a ritz, and a little character development with Idie, and that's about it.
I actually liked the art, and there was a cool two page spread showing all of the X-Men ready to attack.
This arc as a whole was pretty much filler. We got some stuff at the end, but that's it. That's this books problem. It started off as one of my favorite Marvel books. Then AVX happened, and the book didn't stand out really from any of the other books. Then when it came back, it has been almost nothing but filler.
We will get a multi-issue story, then later in the month, an issue that is a total rip off. For example the issue with Angel recruiting Shark Girl. If you are reading this review, you probably forgot that took up a whole issue, but it did.
I hope I'm wrong but the next issue with Wolverine and Storm kissing called "Date Night" will probably be a one off filler too.
Now that we have All New X-Men, this book is really suffering. It needs to stop coming out twice a month and refocus. I don't know how much longer I will be on this book. Not that it's bad, but it really adds nothing to the table. It went from sharing the spotlight with Uncanny X-Men, to turning into a nothing book.
Uncanny X-Men restarts next month, and I hate to say it, but it looks like there isn't room for three "flagship" X-Men books. I don't think this one is going to survive. The last issue I was shocked/couldn't wait for was Broo's death.
I like Jason Aaron, but you can do better. Please do better on this title.
