Issue two of Wolverine and Jubilee picks up sometime after Jubilee was found in a shipping container of dead people. Logan has taken Jubilee to Siberia (which is only getting 5 hours of sunlight a day) for a little of his school of tough love treatment, this consists of taking her just far out of the town and forcing her to fight with him because sometime you’ve just gotta man up and get on with your life. This plan however backfires when she smashes his bike over his head and goes back to the hotel.

Later Logan returns and tells Jubilee that they also are in Siberia to track down the source of Jubilee’s container. The two joke around a little and then get a lead about a building full of undead and Jubilee goes in to clear it out (and rather spectacularly crushing one guy’s head with a Kirk punch).

This issue more than the first feels like a Horror story, this is mostly because the town is mostly grey and even has a cross swinging Hotel manager. The issue also dives more into Jubilee’s loneliness due to the Vampire thing, she starts the issue by asking stupid questions (like a teenager does when they’re annoyed) but after Logan’s school of hard knocks she seems to genuinely feel thankful to Logan for him not giving up on her.

I like this series so far. It isn’t an act-based story, by that I mean it is the things that Logan and Jubilee say and how they say it that is the draw here. I am sometimes completely overwhelmed by Marvel’s focus on the big act-based story-lines, the fact that Wolverine and Jubilee exists has reminded me that in Marvel’s perceived second and third tier titles there lies the truly good stories and books.

Issue #2 of Wolverine & Jubilee, Curse of the Mutants Aftermath.   The Good: Here we have, as the title says, Wolverine and Jubilee once again. Just alone on that, I decided to pick up this mini series. Seeing these two together really brings out something that we don't typically see in the characters when they're surrounded by other characters, and it is good. The writing is actually really solid and these last 2 issues have been so much better then I expected. I love seeing Logan and Jubil...

The Shock Of The New 0

This issue is part 2 of a 4-part miniseries dealing with the aftermath of Jubilee’s transformation into a vampire at the hands of Dracula’s son, Xarus.   Issue #1 of this miniseries was, quite simply, terrific. One of the best comic books I’d read in quite a while, and centered around one of my favorite characters and the harrowing new reality she faces.   Caution: spoilers follow. > >  > > > Still here? > >  > > > Ok then. > >  > > > When I rea...
