It is able to grant its host a variety of weapons and can also heal the wearer.

He was previously in the employment of Kenneth Irons until becoming romantically involved with Sara Pezzini. Ian later becomes the wielder of the Blood Sword, one of the 13 Artifacts of the Top Cow Universe.
Kenneth Irons is a shrewd businessman and the richest man in the world. He stops at nothing to gain the Witchblade, which usually results in some unfortunate deaths.
Jeanne d'Arc, also known as "Joan of Arc", is a Catholic saint, and national heroine of France. Claiming to be commanded by God himself, she led the French into several victorious battles against the English during the Hundred Years' War. She was burnt at the stake in 1431.
Danielle Baptiste is the daughter of Police Captain Peyroux and Gus Baptiste. She is a classically trained ballerina whose life is turned upside down upon meeting Sara Pezzini, wielder of the Witchblade. She now wields the power of the Angelus. Due to a reality warp done by Jackie Estecado, Dani now remains powerless. In this reality she is a detective.
