As a result of M-day, only 27 of the 182 students enrolled at the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning still retained their powers. In response to the increasingly desperate situation that mutants now faced, Emma Frost disbanded all the former training squads (most of which had lost much of their membership to the Decimation) and integrated those students she deemed capable of combat.
Wind Dancer was a member of the Hellions during the re-made world of Scarlet Witch during the events of House of M. In this re-made world, mutants are the majority and are in power. Young burgeoning mutants now have two options for their future schools. Either picking between the New Mutant Leadership Institute, ran by Xi'an Coy Mahn (Karma), where here they develop the future diplomats and leaders of the world, though they do not get combat training. The other option is to join the S.H.I.E.L.D. training program, ran by Sebastian Shaw. It is here they have a more military training focusing on warfare and covert operations. The training team is called the Hellions. This group included Scion (Earth-616's Hellion), Mercury, Magik (Illyana Rasputin), Wind Dancer, Quill, Surge, Synch & Anole. Danielle Moonstar, also a member, is a fully-fledged S.H.I.E.L.D. member and is assigned to the training of the team and does participate in active battle with them Her assistant trainers are Aurora and Northstar.
Temporarily made a member in X-Men Unlimited Infinity Comic #44 to take on X-Men Green
After Magneto attacked and destroyed the Xavier Institute, changes in the organization of the school were introduced. Teams were formed and students were trained in combat to be able to protect themselves from future threats. Sophia became leader of one of the teams, the New Mutants who were under the supervision of Dani Moonstar. The New Mutants had a bit of a rivalry with the Hellions, the team lead by Julian Keller (Hellion), and they spent a lot of time feuding against each other; competing all the time, both teams wanting to be the top team at Xavier’s in the field exercise program. Due to internal turmoil amongst the New Mutants, the Hellions were able to take the price for best team at the end of the school year. After M-Day Sofia sadly lost her powers and left the institute for other reasons, she then later joined the New Warriors and went on a series of adventures with them until the team's separation, she is now leading a normal happy human life.
Sofia Mantega initially refused membership several times after being recruited by Jubilee, Blackwing, and Night Thrasher after being torn away from her friends, teammates, and powers that often gave her a sense of security. Finally willing to give another shot at being part of a family, she brought the team back together when it was on the brink of disbanding.
The PR Manager of X-corp.
The X-Men are a superhero team of mutants founded by Professor Charles Xavier. They are dedicated to helping fellow mutants and sworn to protect a world that fears and hates them.
Wind Dancer was one of the students at Xavier Institute. Now depowered. Sophia was recruited by Dani Moonstar to join Xavier’s. She found herself at home amongst other mutants and her outgoing personality allowed her to find friends fairly quickly.
