where is everyone coming up with the idea of a white lantern?

i dont have any problem with it im just curious

I believe it has always been just a joke. That is was said there will not be a white lantern.

Wouldn't surprise me if there's actually going to be one...

What emotion would be attached to it if they had one?

i can take a joke, i thought it was when i first heard about it but more and more i hear people talking about how Hal will become the first white lantern.

i think it started as a joke but johns has made a few comments in interviews that have lead some people to think that there might be a possibility of a white lantern appearing at some point

Give it time.  Soon, one of every color will come out, and they will fly in unison and make a rainbow gayer than "Pride".

I can't wait to see Hal do 50 backflips, only to get shot in the chest, and scream as he falls in slow-motion with bright ass sparkles shooting from his suit.

My guess is all the lantern colors will merge into white. White light, when reflected through a prism, creates all the lantern colors.

I think a White Lantern, if there is to be one would have the ability off all 7 emotional spectrum wavelengths.

Red: Rage
Orange: Greed
Yellow: Fear
Green: Willpower
Blue: Hope
Indigo: Compassion
Violet: Love

I think the White Lantern comes from the fact if you combine all the colors of the rings you would get white and the white lantern or lanterns would balance out the black lanterns. It makes sense sorta, but I am not to keen on all these different power rings floating around.

Well not everyone can show these emotions. The bearer must be able to control or use all. Or something like that.I couldn't see 2-face compassion.Or Death having hope.A coward to show willpower.Rage & Greed is a hard ones to think of.It's also hard for me to acknowledge love. I don't even say it to my mother. I find it hard to understand it.White Lantern = All the emotions. White is every colour in one. Black Lantern = No emotion. Black is the absence of colour."

if one is ever created does anyone expect it to be someone other than Hal?

I think i have found a way for "A" white lantern to exist

The colors of the green lantern fractions are emotions, that we already know, but alas, they are but COLORS! Black is NOT a color and therefor has no applying emotion, just DEATH, whereas WHITE would have to be the opposite (LIFE).

Now we have seen that few lanterns are capable of wielding two rings at a time, like green and blue was the turqoise lantern, so what if someone grabbed every COLOR instead of black? all the opposing lantern corps are battling eachother but there is one person that might as well apply to ALL corps, and MAY be able to wear them all at once and become the "White Lantern" but as we know black and white nullify eachother so in order to ultimately defeat the black corps, they must either both "Die" or .... Merge...

Any thoughts?

we've already seen that it's impossible for someone to control all 7 rings....when they put the blue ring on hal it destroyed the red ring

I think only a Human can become a White Lantern. I remember reading somewhere in the Green Lantern books, that humans are rich with emotion while most planets around the galaxy are not. I think it was Ganthet who said it. So your theory still could be true. But I can't see Hal being that person. Well, that all depends on the writer, if it's Geoff or another person.

but

id feel pretty hard done by if they introduced an almighty white lantern at the end of Blackest night and then they killed off all the black lanterns.

If it is i see no problem with it. I remember people having a major problem with the Zamorons/violet/love corps but i now everyone seems  fine with them...

lol im sorry i think your theory is great but all this color talk and the white lantern being the ultimate just reminds me of the first power rangers.

also someone said they think humans could be white lanterns beecause they are so emotional but they didnt think hal could be the white ranger. why not? hes human. Also he lost people he cared about which would put him in the ability to become a violet lantern i would think even though the woman that liked him became one because she was denied and holds a grudge

I don't know about a white lantern,but a Vanilla Lantern would be  very funny to see. I think they would  look so tasty you would wish you could eat them. Any ways a Rainbow Lantern would look a whole lot better than a White Lantern,because The Rainbow Lanterns would have all the emotion powers of every lantern except the black ones. They would be so powerful not even Sinestro would defeat them and take their rings away from them.
