Three Characters in Search of an Exit

I was really really looking forward to this. I love a good anthology, and the retro b-sci-fi lover gobbled up the concept of something called Weird Worlds albeit for a limited time. The first story is the Lobo one, the only character of the three to not make a debut in this issue. The Lobo story is a run of the mill space bounty hunter affair, that I would have carried about much less had it not featured Lobo. The cliffhanger didn't do much in the way of getting me to bite my fingernails because it builds up to what will probably just be a typical comic book fight. The next story features an obvious Swamp Thing knock-off inspiringly called Garbageman. I forgave the inherent tackiness and found a very cliched story, that frankly I have no interest in. So far we have a Lobo tale that would score a 3/5, and a Garbageman yarn going for 2/5. The final story was my favorite and featured TANGA. This story had the best art of the three in my opinion which was only helped by an attractive main character. She reminded me of a cross between Bendis' Scarlet and the Silver Surfer, in that she's a red haired fiery chick with cosmic power who just seems to be wandering. Her cliffhanger had me raise an eyebrow of interest, but frankly there's not enough in Weird Worlds, to get me hooked to run back to the store. If money was no object, I'd humor this venture, but desperate times call for the omission of mediocre comics from your shopping list, and this was marginally better than mediocre.

Three stories about the DC characters Lobo, Garbage Man, and Tanga.  The Good Three well done stories in this issue. All of them are essentially an introduction to these characters, two of which are new. Lobo is really the pull for new readers since he's not incredibly well known, but has a decent cult following. All of these stories are strong, but Tanga was the one that really stood out. She's flying around the universe alone, just trying to find someone, anyone because the universe is pretty ...

Three Times the Weird, Three Times the Fun 0

Lobo The Good: The entire story is one giant 10 page joke.As the bounty hunter brags and brags about his battle, we, the reader, see the events in panels and can clearly pick out the discrepancies in his story. Just when you feel that the point has been made, he's a typical big mouthed 'all bark no bite' obnoxious 'that guy,' he gets his just desserts. Perfect timing. Usually, I could give or take with Lobo, but my god did I love him here. Every single drop of his dialogue oozed greatness. it wa...
