Richard Horatio Edgar Wallace (1 April 1875 – 10 February 1932) was a British writer.
During the first 30 years of the 20 century the most popular writer of mystery/thrillers was Edgar Wallace, it being said that during the 30’s one out of every four books sold in England was written by Edgar Wallace. He died in 1932 on his way to Hollywood to take part in the scripting of the film "King Kong. "(In the end, while given credit because it was thought his name would help sell tickets, he really contributed nothing to it.).
After that, his fame in England, Canada, and the States started to fade, so he is seldom reprinted and almost forgotten, however he remains popular in Germany were his novels remain a favorite.
He was still popular enough in 1951 to warrant a comic book in Australia that did adaptations of his stories.
