Richard Donner was an American film director, associated with such hits as The Omen, the Lethal Weapon series, The Goonies and the first two entries in WB's Superman film series. He hired Geoff Johns as an assistant and mentored him, giving him his start in show business. Johns later asked Donner to help come up with ideas for Superman: Last Son, in which he receives story credit. Donner admittedly had little interest in comics and was mainly credited in stories as a sign of respect due many ideas created by screenwriters and conceptual illustrators of the 1978 film being used in the comics.
