    Short summary describing this movie.

No recent wiki edits to this page.

The three child protagonists are Johnny, Ginny and Toby, two white kids and an an African American one. Johnny is the grandson of a Georgia plantation owner and lives with her because his parents' marriage is collapsing. Ginny is the only daughter of a poor, rural family. Toby is a young servant. While the film was a 1940s hits and still relatively popular, there have been concerns of racism. Partly because Remus remains poor and in a subservient position after an implied lifetime of loyal service, partly because of taking an interest in the upbringing of white children rather than the black ones.
