Carol Danvers becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.
Plot
Starforce member Vers suffers from amnesia and recurring nightmares involving an older woman. She is trained to keep her emotions in check by her mentor and commander Yon-Rogg, who accompanies her in a mission to rescue an undercover operative infiltrating a group of Skulls. However, they fail their mission and Vers is captured by Skrull commander Talos.
Vers successfully escapes the alien planet before crash-landing in Los Angeles. The year is 1995 in The Granite City when her presence there attracts S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Nick Fury & Phil Coulson. Nick Fury kills a Skrull impersonating Coulson, while Vers recovers a crystal containing her extracted memories.
It is revealed that Vers was a pilot who was presumed to have died in 1989 while operating a light-speed engine designed by Wendy Lawson, who Vers recognizes as the woman from her nightmares.
