Amazing Change of Pace
To say that this book is all over the place is an understatement. What started off as a strong series quickly crashed into one of the worst ongoing books I've ever read. After about five really good issues and five pieces of bullshit, we get this issue rising from the ashes of what could have been a potentially dead series. And how did this do? Well it did great.
Too bad it took so long for this series to not suck. I hate to be so blatant about it but frankly, that's all I can say. With the awful artists in limbo and Greg Pak writing the weirdest and most complicated story ever, this series was nothing shy of bad. There was a brief moment in the last arc, where the regular artist Leondardo Manco showed up. That issue wasn't bad but it still sucked in comparison to most of the comics out there. Well this book was different. I know... weird right?
From the past ten issues, Greg Pak has written with a very slow pace. His previous arcs have each elapsed in the same day, maybe even in the same several hours. Now we get this story that's very fast paced and it involves tons of different characters rather than just Rhodes. We get all sorts of characters and a much more upbeat and big story. It really feels like all of this is leading to some grand ending. I love it! It isn't what we've been used to, and that's a good thing because what we've gotten recently has been horrible.
The art is pretty nice. It isn't Leondardo Manco, but it's snazzy none-the less and it totally works well for this story. Ares looks so shiny and cool. The "Team War Machine" (which I'm still not fond of) looks really nice too. It is good to see somebody actually care to do good art in this series for once.
Anyway, this reads like a fast paced sort of "huge event" type story, which is TOTALLY different from what we've seen before. Plus the art is good. It's a great big turn-around from what we were used to and that's a good thing. I only have good comments to make and I can't think of much of anything bad. Well that's that. Thanks for reading.
