Volfe Karkko

Origin

Volfe Karkko was an Anzati who was found to be Force sensitive and trained in the ways of the Jedi, eventually rising to the ranks of Jedi Master. Other Jedi were opposed to his training because they feared his Anzati roots and that he would attempt to eat the "soup", or the essence, of other people and subsequently kill them. As he became a Jedi Master and had never tasted another person's soup, Karkko grew arrogant and convinced himself that tasting it once wouldn't hurt. After his first taste, however, Karkko grew addicted and used his Force powers to bring more victims to him in order to eat their soup. His actions garnered the attention of the Jedi Council who tracked him to the planet Kiffex where a large and intense battle took place. Although he proved a formidable opponent for the entire Council, Karkko was defeated, but instead of killing him, the Jedi chose to place him in a stasis field in order to think on his actions while in suspension.

Major Story Arcs

Release from Stasis

Karkko would remain in stasis inside a large temple on Kiffex for many years to come until 30 years before the Battle of Yavin, when the Padawan Aayla Secura landed on the planet after surviving a starship crash landing. Karkko, sensing her presence, called out to her Telepathically and drew her to his Temple, where sh found his lightsaber and the Dark Jedi in stasis. Upon further enticing, Karkko would convince Secura to release him from stasis and set him free. Now free, Karkko uses his powers and abilities to draw other Anzati to his Temple where he drains their Force energies to empower himself, leaving them primal in nature. As he grows in power and with Secura likewise under his spells and manipulation, he tasks her to find him more victims to sate his hunger, leading the Anzati to various settlements near his Temple.

On one of these missions, Secura and her Anzati forces run into Jedi Master Tholme and Knight Quinlan Vos, who follow Secura after she is recalled back to the Temple by Karkko. Secura and the Anzati lead the Jedi to the Temple, intending to capture them on the way or force them to fight the Dark Jedi himself. As the Jedi near the Temple, Karkko unleashes his Anzati soldiers and cuts off the Jedi at his Temple entrance, luring Vos inside by Telepathically letting him know Secura is with him.

Final Battle

Once Vos enters the Temple, Karkko pits him against his former Padawan Secura, knowing he wishes to bring her back to the Jedi Temple to restore her memories and release her from Karkko's grasp. The Anzati Dark Jedi orders Secura to fight Vos, and watches in delight as the two go at it in order to determine who would serve him afterwards. After telling Vos that if he kills Aayla and turns to the dark side, he would be his new apprentice, Vos turns off his lightsaber and manages to get through to Aayla, breaking Karkko's hold on her. Disgusted by her betrayal, Karkko knocks out Secura with Force Lightning and engages Vos himself. After the two briefly lock and clash blades, Karkko tricks Vos with a few Force-conjured illusions and then pins him to a wall with Telekinesis, attempting to eat the soup of another Jedi for the first time in centuries.

Before he can do so, however, the other Jedi outside join in meditation and reinforce Vos of his Jedi teachings, allowing him to break free and kick Karkko away. Karkko then squares off with Vos and the both of them leap forward and strike at each other, delivering one slash each. Unfortunately for the Dark Jedi, his attack was the one that missed, and the newly determined Vos bisected the Anzati at the waist.

Powers and Abilities

Volfe Karkko was an extremely powerful Force user and even managed to take on the whole Jedi Council before being defeated after he became a Dark Jedi. He was very proficient in Force-based illusions, Force Lightning, and Telepathic abilities. His power was able to cause a noticeable shift of Kiffex's aura toward the dark side, as noted by Jedi Master T'ra Saa, as well as corrupt all Anzati who were drawn to his Temple and drain them of their Force energies, turning them into feral beings. He could call out Telepathically to both Jedi and Anzati alike, and managed to manipulate Aayla Secura into serving him, strengthening her hate towards her former Master Quinlan Vos in the process. His abilities also extended to Force Sense, Telekinesis, and Tutaminis, shrugging off Quinlan Vos' attempt at Force Lightning and firing his own in response.
