Carol used to be a pilot, but, after her father retired, she gave it up to run the family business (Ferris Air, a company in Coast City that makes aircraft). She hired her childhood friend, Hal Jordan, as a test pilot. Soon after Hal became a Green Lantern, Carol found herself possessed by a Star Sapphire gem. The gem gave her power, but also altered her personality when used. After the formation of the Star Sapphire Corps however, Carol has been able to remain herself and act as a hero.
Before the creation of the Star Sapphire Corps, Remoni-Notra was the fourth Star Sapphire to appear on Earth. She's from a planet named Pandini, and the Zamarons chose her to be their queen after Carol Ferris refused the title. She came to Earth in search of lost Star Sapphire gems and took the alias Deborah Camille Darnell.

Bloss is a Zamaron who also chose to be a member of the Star Sapphires Corps and join in their mission directly, going out amongst the stars as the rest of the Corps does, to use the power of love to save the universe. She's unusual for her race, as most Zamarons tend to stay on their home planet.
Prixiam Nol-Anj is a Star Sapphire villainess and former prisoner of the Oan sciencells. She escaped after convincing Lantern Cossite she loved him, using her new violet powers to kill him and escape the Green Lanterns. She is the leader of the Braidmen.

Aga'po is the queen of the Zamarons. Eons ago, she led her people, a tribe of female Oans, on a quest out among the stars to search for the sapphire light of love. They reached their destination on the planet Zamaron. In modern times, she lead her people in the formation of the Star Sapphire Corps, overseeing their effort to spread love's light throughout the universe by sending women chosen to be members of the corps out among the stars to be love's champions.
She was chosen to champion love as a member of the Star Sapphire Corps.
