This is a really disappointing issue but that said this is still a great series. A bad book for this group is better than the best of others. That is why I gave it three stars out of five. I recommend this book and more importantly this series. Any series is going to have higher and lower points and this is a low one but the series is great pick it up. One more highlight to this book is the art and that is awesome.
The disappointing part of this book is the origin. The cover shows an exclamation point but it should be a question mark. The
Vigilante always seemed to be a regular guy until last issue and now it is revealed that he has a superpower. This power takes more away from Vigilante than it gives to him. I know it sounds odd but not haveing a power is what made Vigilante great. Just like Batman.
His power is a super-fast healing factor. This gives Vigilante an extreme advantage over his ordinary foes to the point where he doesn't ever seem to be in as much danger. Hopefully the level of villains he faces will be more challenging than they have been.
How he gets this power is also lame as he and others are trained after suffering a traumatic loss by people all through history who have suffered a loss. in other words he and others were trained by ghosts. This is opposed to the Vigilante world. He has not dealt with one Supernatural thing till this date now all of a sudden he reveals that he has mystical powers and not only that there are others like him that as far as I know are never revealed in any DC Comic to this date. This book makes you think there are suppose to be multiple vigilantes running around.
The second issue I had with this issue is when Police Captain Arthur Hall get his throat cut by a plastic butter knife that was thrown. That's right a plastic butter knife was thrown by a guy with no superpowers hard enough to severely cut someone throat.
