Venom
Character » Venom appears in 2661 issues.
The Venom symbiote originally bonded with Peter Parker, AKA Spider-Man, during his adventure in the first Secret Wars on the Beyonder's planet called Battleworld. Initially, he thought the symbiote was just an attire. However, upon his discovery, he rejected it because he realized that it was sentient. Since then, the symbiote has bonded with several other hosts, including Eddie Brock, Angelo Fortunato, Flash Thompson, Ann Weying, and even Carol Danvers. Currently, its host is Eddie Brock.
What Can We Expect From The New Venom?
This sounds really interesting, might even get me back into reading Spider-Man and Marvel comics in general.
On a side note - hearing Midnight Brown's FFF in Comic Vine's videos never stops being creepy.
Oh, and that Venom toy from Spectacular Spider-Man is my favorite. You have good taste in dolls, Tony!
Nice feature on the new Venom. I think I'll have to pick these issues up. Hopefully they aren't too expensive in the back issue market.
I like how G-Man gingerly gives Talking Venom to Babs... kinda like how an older brother would give his new shiny toy to his younger sister, DON'T BREAK IT!!!. :o)
And Venom #1 is on sale this Wednesday.
Yay Venom! Can't wait to see where Mr. Brock will eventually tie int all this. I've got the talking Venom figure and it's one of my favorites! It was pulled from shelves after its release thanks to angry parents and politicians who disagreed with Venom wanting to eat Spider-Man's brain. Apparently cannibalism and children's toys don't mix!
I'm with Norm on this one. Lets just see a big free for all over the suit :D Now while I'm all for taking a character in a different direction and I'm really interested in seeing where this is going I'd still like to see the venom symbiote return to Eddie Brock eventually. He's the one and only venom in my eyes
WE KNOW PUNY LITTLE THOMPSON CAN'T HANDLE US. WE ARE VENOM, WE WILL TAKE BACK EDDIE BROCK AND TOGETHER WE WILL DESTROY SPIDER-MAN!
" eddie brock and flash thompson are pretty much peter parkers childhood bullies "Makes no sense. Peter didn't meet Eddie until after college (and it was as Venom - so that isn't being a bully as much as a lunatic bent on murder).
Flash and Peter are now basically best friends.
Definitely gonna be picking up the first Venom ish. I think it's an interesting take on the character, and I've liked what they've done with Flash Thompson in recent years.
I'm just concerned about that 20 mission timer. It seems like just a gimmick to either cut the series short if it's doing poorly, or they'll have to find some super convoluted way to extend it if it's doing well.
Ok, I'll take it back. Maybe Flash Thompson as the new Venom will be a good idea.
I'm interested how this will all turn out. I reckon Flash will get hooked on the suit and will want to keep it for yourself. I've also noticed Marvel has released the entire series of Daniel Way's run on Venom. So, looks like this is going to be a good year for Venom fans.
this video actually inspired me to read the issue and i thought it was a pretty good read even though i am not tradtionally a spiderman fan
Yes, because Haunt has an alien symbiote that gives him back his legs and he loves his country." Anybody else see those preview pages and think, "HAUNT!" ??? "
..... oh wait.
" I like the idea with Flash but I like more Eddie Brock as Venom. He was great and Mac Gargan. He was all right but the same as Eddie.I will start to read the new ongoing series of Venom "Mac was not the same as Eddie.
- Mac ate people, Eddie saved people
- Mac got beaten by Spider-man in a fight in his first bout as Venom; Eddie only lost once, in one of his last fights ("Venom: The Finale")
- Mac was an idiot, Eddie was not
ETC
I hope Toxin makes an appearance in all of this.
I think this whole Venom and Carnage return stuff is going to build up to 3rd symbiote appearing and being worse than before. Like more evil than Carnage.
wow, theres a lot of comments on here from people that obviously dont read spider-man or know anything about venom...
i dont understand why we have to say things like "venom HAS to be a villian. venom and spider-man HAVE to fight." i understand that people expect classic venom and the classic situations, but isnt the point of this to mix things up? and who says a new venom cant move in after flash is done? why not? rick remender and dan slott are both know for remixing characters and doing it well, i dont think we should expect things to look like new mask on the same character. i may be wrong, but there is a possibility of this being a legitimately new venom.
also, no offense to anyone, but i kinda liked these more when it was just g-man and babs.... no offense
Big fan of Remender's Fear Agent and Uncanny X-Force, so I'll be interested to see what he can do here. To be honest, I wasn't all that hyped on the idea of Flash Thompson soldier Venom, but you guys sold it to me in this video with all the potential intrigue of Flash bonding with the symbiote and going rogue, confrontation with Spidey/Carnage, etc. Moore's art should help, too.
"Wacker did recently just say randomly that he likes Toxin. So it's a possibility. I would think he could appear in an Anti-Venom mini series. It'd be interesting to see how Eddie would deal with someone in a symbiote who is genuinely interested in doing the right thing, and how that would reflect back onto his own past.
I hope Toxin makes an appearance in all of this. "
i have a feeling Flash is going to fall apart during the fear itself and then we get to see a show down between either Eddie and Flash or carnage and flash

I like the idea of the Venom thing, being a good and bad guy. But it seems like they have written into the story a time table, like the Spawn clock they eventually got rid of, Venom has a time table. What they could do is do some convoluted idea of how Flash can stay Venom without the time table running out, like maybe work out a way to get it to start again, like the Scientists figured out a way to restart the clock after it switches from person to person, or using some chemical or something. Its a comic, they could figure it oiut.

reminds me of avatar....war hero loses legs gets new body to do amazing things for brief jumps and ultimately stays in body.
" reminds me of avatar....war hero loses legs gets new body to do amazing things for brief jumps and ultimately stays in body. "The difference is that he didn't go batsh!t crazy at times and eat people.
Not a big Venom fan. I'm sort of getting bored with the whole soldier/espionage superhero angle as well. I probably won't be reading Venom's solo title. However, I think the idea works really well for future Spider-Man stories. Flash's brooding anger over Peter meeting with Mary Jane in AMS #654.1 foreshadows some sort of conflict between Flash and Pete in the near future. I've always thought some of the better Spider-Man stories are when his villains interact with his civilian life as well as Spider-Man's, so this would carry on with that proud tradition. It also makes Flash a vital part of the story again. Who knows, if it works out he could be leading the Thunderbolts in the near future.
