    Venom

Character » Venom appears in 2797 issues.

The Venom symbiote originally bonded with Peter Parker, AKA Spider-Man, during his adventure in the first Secret Wars on the Beyonder's planet called Battleworld. Initially, he thought the symbiote was just an attire. However, upon his discovery, he rejected it because he realized that it was sentient. Since then, the symbiote has bonded with several other hosts, including Eddie Brock, Angelo Fortunato, Flash Thompson, Ann Weying, and even Carol Danvers. Currently, its host is Eddie Brock.

why oh why did they ruin venom, everyone who know's the story of eddie brock, knows he a muscle headed jock but apparently the dumb ass's in hollywood didn't get the memo. so now we got this geeky skinny guy playing a role that is his complete opposite. its bad enough the xmen movies we're so badley casted but now the spiderman movies too, when is some one gonna step in a say hey, people expect to see the their heroes properly portrayed.

I think Topher Grace should play Spider-man. I never liked the casting for Spider-man... Toby plays him way to sweet and self-effacing. And what the heck were they thinking casting Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane? A tall red-headed NY Model, I think not!!

I believe what they're trying to do is show what could've happen to Spider-man if he didn't have all the responsiblity. They're protraying Peter and Eddie as being in similar situations. We know what Spidey will do. Now we get to see the flip side. Sure, maybe it's not perfect casting but I'm more interested in Topher can do with the role versus some meathead there. Comic movies will never be perfect. They're adaptions. Look at Hugh Jackman. He doesn't look to be 5'3'' but I think he does a pretty darn good job as Wolverine. Ya gotta have a sense of disbelief. I have faith in Sam Raimi. I'd rather see a questionable casted Spider-Man rather than another sports movie where the underdog team suddenly wins at the end.

I don't think Toby has been all that bad. I thought he captured the "teenager with new powers" part of the first movie pretty well. Maybe we'll see some more hard@$$ in this next movie. I, for one, would like to hear more and more Spidey-banter. It's one of his most important powers and its not been as prevalent as I thought it should.

Totally agree on Dunst as a poor choice, totally wrong. (I think we've had this conversation before.)

I enjoyed the first two movies, and found the second to be even better than the first. If the trend continues who cares? There are all sorts of things you can complain about as far as the movie adaptations are concerned so far, but my response is generally that this, for me, is like the Ultimate Universe. It is taking the comics and putting them forth in a manner that will work well on the big screen for new and old audiences alike. Besides, do you want everything in the movies to be a perfect mirror of the comics? Wouldn't that be a bit boring?

Exactly. I'm all for reinterpreting the medium except for that movie they decided to call X3. I think they strayed too far with it. Professor X switching bodies? Cyclops dying? Psylocke being a villain in the movie for 5 seconds just to be killed. It's like the only thing they got right was having Jean die...again. I've always said that would've been a good movie if it wasn't called "X3." You can change or mix things up but bottom line, you shouldn't drastically change things. Killing off a major character doesn't impress me. It's like a cheap way to make a shocking story. Just try writing a better script rather than rely on the death card.

He is missing the tounge!!! The long, fat, nasty and gross tongue that always seems to be too big for Eddy's mouth. It's like, the flag of Venom, always waves around everywhere. The tounge made him very evil. I think they should have kept that.

But back on Brock, who care if it's not exact, as long as it isn't bad. The move is supposed to be different.

Shunning wouldn't be harsh enough. I can't stand her. Dunst can do anything better than her, and I don't like Dunst.

And yes, Paris would play the neck snapping part of Gwen Stacy's role very well.

I always thought so. But I suppose she is getting a little old. She's in her gasp 30s. I know when Whedon was workin' on the script he was thinking about a young Wonder Woman first arriving to Man's world. Maybe something like, "Hey, baby..."

Does anyone ever notice the perfect comic book portrail in another show? What I mean is Lucy Lawless was the percect Wonder Woman. I used to watch Xena and think, this could easily be called Wonder Woman.

The movie Snatch, Brad Pitts character was a perfect movie version of Gambit.

The Scorpian King, The Rock was a perfect version of Apocolypse when he was in Eygpt.

Back to the topic. I have mixed feelings about how Venom looks, I dont see why the couldnt use CGI and make him bigger. Venom isnt a clone of Spiderman, he's the complete opposite, Spidey uses agility, not saying Venom doesnt but he's more of a brute force type of guy.

I think your right. Maybe they could blend it in at certain points, so it wouldnt look so obvious. Really I think it will be sweet anyway. All the previews look amazing, I think the Sandman is getting over looked, everone is worried about Venom, but from what I've seen the Sandman is done really well. Who would of thought the guy from wings would be the Sandman.

god forbid if they ever did do a Death of Superman movie... can you imagine what a CGI Doomsday would turn out like?

I think cg was the problem with Hulk. He looked like jell-o at times. As good as cg is, you can still tell it's fake. I'm pretty sure they're going to have to use some in 3. I mean, unless Topher is really a good actor and can act like he has a big head with a whole lot of teeth.
