    Just another hero call.

After reading brilliant 27.1 issue of Venom I have to admit I had some huge expectations for the new Flash's adventures in Philadelphia. After reading issue 28... I am disappointed.

What made Point One great was clearly forgotten here. Flash's life is far from being easy and comfortable. In part it is his own fault and in part he is a victim of the circumstances. He is a real life character and as any of us he deserves a new start. Moving to Philadelphia supposed to be a hard made and life changing decision for Flash. It supposed to be a huge moment. New era. A moment definitive enough for us to talk about Agent Venom before and after the move he'd made...

    Forget it.

Thompson goes to Philadelphia because Katy, who called him from there, is in trouble... As dry as it sounds... As dry it feels. This potentially important move becomes just another hero call. I'm really trying to find something positive about the story in this issue and apart from pretty cool opening act between Flash and Valkyrie I can't find anything. Definitely not the return of U-Foes.

I was waiting 7 issues to actually say it out laud and with uneasy heart I have to admit: I do not enjoy Cullen Bunn's run on Venom. I have to say it, even if I appreciate some of seeds he brought for future writers to explore, I would like to see a change at the writing seat rather earlier then later. For me only one of the seven issues he wrote individually is really worth mentioning. Reading Venom now feels like supporting Chicago Bulls after the second MJ's departure. You stick with them but you can't wait for something like a D Rose era to come.

I have to say that when his ran began, I didn't have much faith in Cullen Bunn, but this issue has definitely changed beliefs. This story has had a nice progression from the developments in the Secret Avengers with Valkyrie - who I think is definitely an underrated C-lister - and the fallout of the Minimum Carnage arc. I'm not sure I really grasp the concept of why he's going to Philadelphia but I think it's going to have a nice follow-up. "The city of brotherly love" can handle Flash Thompson a...
