    Origin

    Vance Wingfield is the leader of a terrorist cell called Strike First. He is married to Shary Wingfield, who is his second in command. Vance has harsh training techniques, teaching his soldiers to not care about members of the team, to complete missions at all costs, and often uses live ammunition in training. His group was funded by Cobra, and he had a plot to start World War III between the United States and Russia.

    Creation

    Vance Wingfield was created by Larry Hama for the 1982 Marvel comic series G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero.

    Character Evolution

    Wingfield only appears in one issue of Marvels G.I. Joe comic series and is killed by his wife Shary when she comes to realize that her husband has lost his mind in his attempt to start another World War.
