Already own all of them but I'm glad they are doing this to help get the word out. Harbinger and X-O Manowar have been my favorites from the start.

Did this last week. I already had X-O Manowar and Harbinger (thanks Mat!), but I was dying to read Archer & Armstrong + Quantum and Woody.

Not only were they really great, I thought Rai, Eternal Warrior and Unity were great too.

I didn't enjoy Shadowman as much, and I wanted to like Bloodshot more than I actually did (it was fine, but it didn't grab me like I thought it would). Maybe they get better?

This is good, everyone should read Harbinger. And Unity. Maybe XO. Some of A&A. Most of bloodshot. Just read all of it. It's amazing.

@allstarsuperman: oh come on, he hasn't been around long enough to be overrated. He is fantastic. And Gilad is a great foil..but I will admit he was a hundred times better in A&A.

Matt Kindt, the writer of Unity, overrates him tremendously. And really lowballs Gilad. Take issue 7 for example. Ninjak takes out 5 soldiers and a plane, while Gilad gets beat to sh!t by a near brain dead woman. Then take every issue of Unity for example Ninjak openly disobeys Gil. And Gilad is reduced to flashback scenes.

@allstarsuperman: I agree Gilad is lowballed. But it seems like they mog turn that around. Personally, I love the takes on both characters. I love Gilad being wise, and ninjak being the awesome asshole he is. In the preview it seems like they may turn it around, but if you ask me Valiant really screwed the character up already anyway. I mean, in A&A he is a complete bad ass, then in his own book he is in the present and has been some kind of pacifist since the civil war era. Now we have Unity and he is some kind of all knowing bad ass that never does anything. And isn't he supposed to have some kind of healing factor? Because he wore a cast for quite a few issues.

He was a badass in A&A. He wasn't a pacific since the civil war, he fought in WW1 and WW2 and Vietnam and all wars, he just quit working for the Earth's Geomancers. And yeah I really hate his characterization in Unity, he is such a pushover.

@allstarsuperman: oh, is that what it was? I dropped his book after the second issue. Which, I regret doing. Is it worth getting? I'm always tempted. He seemed fine serving the geos in A&A. The whole timeline with him just seems off, and he needs his original suit back. I don't like his current look.

@superiorbeast: Oh yeah definitely read his ongoing, its only 8 issues though, it is cancelled/on hiatus at the time being. It's really good. I will tell you the second arc takes place in 4000 or so and he is an old man called the Eternal Emperor, its really awesome.

I hope so, but both the writers admitted to liking Bloodshot more, and this story is supposed to bring back Geomancer, so I hope Gil isn't sidelined. But who knows maybe Kindt will write a decent EW if he can control his Ninjak fanboyism.
