Hope Lurks in the Shadows
In a book like this, with so many "crazy" and "unique" characters, it´s awesome that Remender always takes his time to proper introduce a squabble or two between the members of this team and also develop the growing problems in the turmoil psyque of Warren before the next adventure is throwed to the table - it´s very nice to see that the writer is concerned with the evolution of the characters, instead of only worrying about the action or the plot itself - that´s a great feat of this ongoing series, something that Remender really dominates, something that should be done in every comic book, but unfortunally some writers forget about it - Remender also nails the dialogues, balancing banter and sarcastic remarks between Warren and Fantomex with elaborated and revengeful lines between Betsy and The Shadow King - also there are great twists in this self contained story, especially the one about Warren in the end, really great stuff - I really liked a lot Billy Tan´s aproach in this book, especially the way he chose to pencil the Shadow King and Psylocke, paying a tribute to Jim Lee´s run in the X-Men in the early 90s. This was an awesome story, it´s so hard nowadays to find a story that fits just one issue like this one. Highly recommended issue!
