Wolverine in Ultimate XMen 1
Wolverine falls in love with Jean Grey after proving that he is qualified to become an XMan. Professor still doesn't give any sign of knowing that what when they rescued Wolverine from the WeaponX convoy that Wolverine was sent to kill him. This was very interesting because neither professor nor Jean knew the real reason as to why Wolverine was sticking around so long. When the first fight with the brotherhood came around, the Xmen's opponents were astounded that Wolverine hd not succeeded yet s...

An interesting beginning for the Ultimate X-Men comic book 0
Interesing story (if you're an X-Men fan like me, you'll know the story of the book before you even read it), redefined characters (Magneto especially; Bobby Drake wasn't handled well in this book; there was no need for Wolverine to be in it so early), art (the art was okay, since the story contained some gore - Millar's trademark). A nice beginning for the series. As this is my first review, I will keep it short. I will be reviewing the Ultimate Spider-Man comic book, the Ultimates and X-Men. N...

Retold well 0
Ultimate X-men #1So the retelling of the X-men story begins here. Like The Ultimate Spiderman, it seems as if the books goal is to place it in as much of a real world as possible. The Sentinels attacks seem to be more vicious, even the way Charles Xaviar ends up in a wheel chair seems to be more violent. Also the personalities have been updated, and the characters do not seem to have the noble pretensions of the original characters. I also like the the way, while we are seeing Xaviers dream as n...

Brilliant Start 0
Nice cover. Love a man with claws and a goatee. Bonus points. As for crushed mutant and his dog? A bit graphic, but nicely done. Ah, the dark era of supremacists and sociopathic nation-state leaders, who could've asked for a better lookout? Loved Trask's short coming, Magneto was portrayed rather nicely in this one. Introduction ceremony was cute, and did I mention I loved Jean's hair-do? Bobby resue mission was intersting, and freeze the Sentinel in mid-fall waas done quite well. Crazy!Hormonal!...

A good beginning 0
The opening page of this issue was very well edited, written and draw as well. The Sentinels attack the mutants.A poor mutant guy even dies.A sentinel crushes him with his dog.Than we skip to the "television" where Bolivar Trask claims that he'll hunt down the mutants after that appears Magneto and Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch can be seen briefly. After the intro in San Diego in a billiard bar we can see Hank McCoy who's being threaten by a guy,but without a problem, Hank get's rid of him.Outside...

ULTIMATE X-MEN #1 0
The first issue in this series that lasted 100 issues. I really loved this series and hated to see it get cancelled. I didn't start reading this series until close to the last issue, but i enjoyed it so much i went out and got all the back issues for this series. Well not back issues, but the trade paper backs. In this issue we see Charles Xavier form the first line-up of the X-Men. In the first line-up we get Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Colossus, Storm, and finally Iceman. Which i thought wa...

Pretty Good 'Cover' Version of the X-Men 0
Marvel launched the Ultimate line at a time when I was on a hiatus from comic collecting. When I became aware of its existence, I cynically dismissed it as just another attempt by Marvel to squeeze more money out of its flagship characters Then - based on good reviews, I picked up Ultimates (thinking that was the best place to start) - and I was blown away! Hank and Janet in an all-out super-abusive relationship; George Bush calling on Captain America; this was the kind of superhero books I'd b...
