Perfect for new readers 0
I think this first volume of Ultimate Spider-Man is a great starting point for new readers. I've been a long time fan of Spider-Man and I really enjoyed this reboot of the series. Ultimate Spider-Man brings us back to the beginning of Peter Parker's adventures - without having to go through decades of backstory - and it is adapted to modern times, which I thought was well done. In my opinion, the only downside of this first volume is the slow pace at the beginning of the story. It takes a bit o...

Ultimate Spider-man begins 0
Contains issues 1-7."With great power, comes great responsibility." That same quote still applies in this new Ultimate universe of Spider-man. The Ultimate Universe was made for new comic readers in attempt to reboot the Marvel series. It was also an attempt of retelling one of Marvel's iconic hero. When fans first heard about this idea, there was a mixed reaction. However, things changed when the first issues came out. For some time, Ultimate Spider-man outsold the mainstream Spider-man co...

Ultimate Spider Man 0
This is the comic that really got me into Spider Man. It brought the character to a whole new generation of kids, and amped up his popularity in general. The story is basically the same as the original, with a few new twists. Peter is still the quirky nerd, but this time, MJ is basically best friends with him, and she's a bit of a nerd too! The book establishes their realtionship early on, and does a good job with it. Clearly they have a crush on each other, but they're both too shy to admit it....

Spider-man getting his powers for the first time! 0
Introduction: I have been growing up with “Spider-Man” ever since I was a child and so far, the only comic I had read from the “Spider-Man” series was “The Origin of the Hobgoblin,” which I did enjoyed. Now, I had stumbled upon the Marvel Ultimate Universe and after I read Mark Millar’s run on “Ultimate X-Men” and kept hearing so many good things on this run, I decided to give Brian Michael Bendis’ run on “Ultimate Spider-Man” a chance. Now at first, I was a little hesitant to read this volum...

Inferior to the Original 0
Bendis' work has always been very good or incredibly bland. I think his recent take on the All-New X-Men is great, but the Guardians of the Galaxy is some of the worst comics I've read. House of M was great, whereas his work with the Ultimate Spider-Man comics has always struck me as lack luster. To take a blast into the past, I decided to pick up two of those volumes from my local library, the first being this one. And though it's by no means terrible, it's certainly not very good.Don't get me ...

As far as comics go this one is a solid read. 1
So today I was in lunch sitting around bored (I am now back in high school as I write this.) So I was like "Yo, homies we needta head up ta da library, yo!" (No I don't actually speak like that.) So we went to the library, and I was looking at some Stephen King books. After awhile I looked around and saw the graphic novel section and I picked up a few along with Doctor Sleep. One of the comics I picked up was this one. Now personally I am not a huge Bendis fan, most of his work to me is below av...
