Showdown with the Chameleons
Tainted Love concludes with Bobby and Johnny joining in the fray.
Pros:
Micheal Bendis take on the Ultimate version of Chameleon has been a interesting run. Not only is it just one Chameleon, but a female one at that, and both of them are willing to do whatever for money even if it's mean ruining someone's life. Even though this is a Spider man book, it's nice to see Bobby and Johnny in action since its been a while since we saw them in action. On an interesting note, while almost every other hero in the ultimate universe is killing their enemies, Peter have been doing the opposite. He could have easily disposed of the Chameleons, but he still plays the hero, despite the Chameleons know who Peter is and his love ones.
David Lafuente once again provide some great artwork and Justin Ponsor provides great coloring. Like I commented with the cover of the last issue, It's a bit disturbing, yet fascinating to see a darker Spidey. For example, seeing him holding machine guns. I know he's an impostor, but seeing him blasting Johnny and Bobby with machine gun fire is just fun. Both Lafuente and Ponsor set the tone of Bendis' storytelling and dialogue.
Cons:
While I am glad that Jamerson survived, I'm a bit surprised that he's still alive. It's surprisingly rare to see someone live after getting shot in the head (close range at that), whether it's in real life, or in the comic book world. However, since he apparently still knows Peter secret, it'll be an interesting take on where it will lead to in the future.
Overall: Tainted Love was a long arc with some ups and downs, but ended quite strong. Bendis turned his life completely upside down. Still, Ultimate Comics Spider-man is just a fun book to read. If you're still down about how Amazing Spider-man been going recently, just try this series. Can't wait for next issue.
