I picked this issue on whim. I have been really liking the ultimate series so I decided to pick this one up. I loved the cover art for it and can’t wait to see more covers for this series.

Story

Hawkeye is working for Nick Fury and finds about this serum that the SEARS are making that is stronger than mutants. They also want to eliminate the X-gene with a virus they will be passing around.

Best Part

When I read the Ultimate Fallout series I did not think that series would be connected with this series. But after reading the first issue you can see it kind of is. In one issue of Ultimate Fallout they mention that the government had made mutants now the SEARS are making something even stronger than mutants. Which I thought was a very cool concept in this issue.

Worst Part

This series is called Ultimate Hawkeye but the issue was not really about Hawkeye but about mutants. I did not really picture Hawkeye getting involved in mutants. Also I wish we learned more about Hawkeye in this issue because we do not know much about ultimate Hawkeye. So, I hope as the issues pass we get to learn more about him. I also felt this issue was to government related. I am not a big fan of government stories because they are kind of boring in comics always talking about plans but never doing anything.

Art

I liked the art for this issue because it was pretty simple. The action scenes with Hawkeye are not as good as the action scenes in Green Arrow but they were pretty good.

The best part of this book is the thing that works most to its detriment. It's so awesome that this book is happening concurrently with The Ultimates. It just comes at the cost of knowing anything about Hawkeye. It seems to me that he's a cocky, crack shot who's also good at cracking wise...like almost every other hero.You know what?
