    In Memorium, Gene Colan, 1926-2011

Gene Colan recently passed away. While he did a lot of great work, he is probably most fondly remembered for his work on Tomb of Dracula. Tomb of Dracula #2 is a good example of why. In this issue the action moves from Romania to fog-shrouded London. Exactly the kind of setting Mr. Colan excels at.

And then there's Dracula himself. If you were a kid in the '70s, Colan's Dracula is the definitive version of Dracula - more virile than Lugosi and more menacing than Christopher Lee.

This issue, more than even issue 1, sets up the rules of the game for this title. Dracula is going to be hard to kill, he holds grudges, and that humans should pick their fights with the lord of the undead very carefully.
