    HALLOWEEN READS: Tomb of Dracula

Set in the then-present early 1970s, and riding a wave of classic monster revival in pop culture, Tomb of Dracula was Marvel's first real foray into horror comics. I say 'real' because Marvel had already entered the arena in the form of the black and white magazine format comic anthology Savage Tales

The first issue unites talented newcomer Gerry Conway (Marvel's young hotshot behind the death of Gwen Stacy) with veteran artist Gene Colan who had been working for all the great comics publishers since the Golden Age.

While the title doesn't immediately hit the levels of greatness it later would under writer Marv Wolfman, this first issue gives a taste of things to come, setting up the resurrection of the world's most famous vampire!

Sink your teeth into this for a fun Halloween read.
