Titans Hunt Issue 05 – The pieces are almost on their place
Cover A
It´s beautiful cover, yeah it´s typical group pose of comic book cover but really cool. The colors actually are the best part, they are bright and look great. There isn’t background aside some ruins but odd thing is that Roy and Donna are looking to their front but Dick is looking to the reader.
Cover B
The Cover B is the Neal Adams variant cover and plays as homage of Golden/Silver Age dramatic covers. The cover itself isn’t bad and it´s funny cover but Nightwing looks too muscular his arms are bigger than Garth.
Plot
The story starts with Mal and Mister Twister, and I start to think that Mal is the key of his plan. And then Nightwing, Donna and Tempest finally found actually new information about their past which probably connects to flashback of last issue. And it´s changes to Roy Harper and Gnaark to will meet with Lilith Clay and Gnaark states that this isn’t place they should be (probably it´s the town where Dick and the others are). But they aren’t only ones there, Hawk and Dove are also there. Dawn is worried about Hank, and she says his name to Lilith, Lilith wants to meet with him (Also Lilith has not interest on Dawn probably because she would prefer Don). But Hall changes into Hawk and fights with Roy and Gnaark and Lilith passes out. Then next scene is about Karen learning about Mal´s past via Niel Richard (AKA Mad Mod) and he also reveals that Mister Twister wants Karen and her baby as well. Last scenes is about Dick, Donna and Garth go to the place of the flashback where Mammoth appears and fights them and Mister Twister makes Mal Duncan play a weird and evil organ which the sound is transmited.
Art Style
The art style is ok. It sort balance itself with good and bad. The colors are nice usually being bright unless with scenes with Mister Twister are usually dark due to creepy nature of the character. But then goes the bad things like Donna and Garth often look to have same hair or characters have just weird faces or one scene where Roy only have half of this leg.
The Good
Mal Duncan´s Upgrade
Mal Duncan is a Metahuman and he now doesn’t need his hornet because he is a screamer. I wonder if he can create portals with his voice since was one of the abilities of one of his hornets. They say his gifts are sound and melody but I wonder if the melody plays out as something than he is good with music. Also he seems to be connected to Mister Twister.
Mammoth’s design
I like this version sort looks alike Teen Titans animated series but now he is bigger, muscular and hairy. He just does small appearances but he looks awesome.
Mister Twister
So apparently Teen Titans ceased to exist due to fight with Mister Twister. He seems to be some of spirit and he says that Mal Duncan can hurt him with his sonic scream. So if Titans want to take him down, they need to find an unusual way to defeat him. He also seems to be able manipulate to Mal Duncan, so he can be quite dangerous.
The Bad
The Art
While the art is good in general, there are some moments that are ridiculous like I mention. But I think this is only bad thing.
