He is the last of thirteen, taught for his entire life that he was born better. A Zemo by blood is a superior person. So then why has he always failed?
Now, having been sent hurtling through time, BARON HELMUT ZEMO will have a chance to encounter the truth of his family AS IT HAPPENED IN THE PAST -- when he comes FACE TO FACE with the first of his family line, the legendary Baron Harbin Zemo! But how much of what we know of our family history is truth and how much has been embellished by the perspective of time?
Can Zemo find a way to escape his situation or will he choose to stay trapped in time if it means preventing his family lineage from a legacy of failure?
It's been three months since Baron Zemo sacrificed himself to save the world. In Manhattan, Wendell Volker is trying to piece together the Zemo history for a thesis paper. He feels he cannot complete his thesis without talking to Zemo face to face.
In 1503, Baron Harbin Zemo is close to the end of his life. He is slightly disapointed with the fact that his son will be the one to inherit everything. He doesn't feel that Hademar is not worthy, having never been in a battle.
Meanwhile Hademar's son, Heller, visits a leper prisoner. The prisoner claims he is not a leper but rather Heller's muse. The two have had several conversations. The leper appears to be Helmut Zemo, somehow trasported back in time.
In Modern day, Volker speaks with Reed Richards about the theory that Zemo is still alive. It seems that a group of students in Germany have come up with proof that Zemo is, in fact, still alive but perhaps lost in time.
In 1503, as Helmut Zemo continues his conversations with Heller, Zemo is beginning to plant the seed into his mind about what makes a good leader versus a good ruler. Hademar is outraged and kills Heller's two guards as a lesson.
As Harbin Zemo passes away, Hademar prepares for his coronation. He immediatley increases the tariffs and demands a virgin each night for the first month of his reign.
Upon further discussion with Zemo, Heller decides to take the Barony for himself with the aid of his loyal guards. Hademar is killed.
As Heller returns to the dungeon to visit Zemo, all he finds are empty chains.
