This year the Mayan Calender runs out on December 21, and there are many different beliefs as to what that means. While most believe December 21, 2012 will just be another day, others eagerly await the date and believe a great transformative event will occur and elevate humanity to a higher plane of existence. Another school of thought has a more pessimistic outlook and believes that 12/21/12 marks a catastrophic, apocalyptic event that will destroy the world.
The inhabitants of the Marvel Universe share those fears because their world is home to many beings capable of bringing about doomsday. This year their fears will be justified when the Mayan Gods return to take over the Earth in a "Hulk" arc by writer Jeff Parker and new series artist Dale Eaglesham. Standing in their way are General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, better known as the Red Hulk and star of the ongoing "Hulk" comic book series, and his allies Machine Man, A-Bomb, the She-Hulks, and Alpha Flight.

If you people still don't buy this book, I hate you. I'M HONESTLY SO PUMPED FOR THIS.

this actually sound descent but i cant stand Red Hulk. knowing how they have portrayed will probably beat the gods which should be crap they are ome of the oldest gods besides the eygptian gods which usually mean er they are the stronger Hulk (Banner) couldnt stand up to Zeus so Red Hulk standing up to the Gods seems like it should be to much for Ross

@DEGRAAF: Dude seriously, if you haven't tried Parker's Hulk book then please do. It's teetering on the verge of cancellation (probably after this Mayan Rule story) and is one of the best books Marvel puts out. Nobody's really giving it a chance because they have a bias against this Hulk and Jeph Loeb's run but it's honestly nothing like Hulk punching the Watcher in the face... he's doing more militaristic stuff and has a sidekick and it's a really good, fun book.

@DEGRAAF: Looks interesting, but you're right about Red Hulk, it wouldn't be the first time that they do something like that with him:

@X35: yea but he can adsorb energy again cant he? does his strength raise? Who's his side kick. I did pick this up a couple times and every time i have been let down or pissed off or both. I liked the premise behind him after him and Banner battle and Banner helped him get on with the Avengers. They were trying to find him a place in the hero world. I was ok with that but idk he just seems redundant to me

@DEGRAAF: Considering the character was mentioned in the first post as Hulk's ally, is my avatar and is featured in the art in the article... it should be obvious it's Machine Man.

@FadeToBlackBolt: I forgot about that arc entirely and I think the writers did the same. It seems as if Aaron is attempting to write the script as he goes along because I don't see it making any sense in the end.

@Deranged Midget: As i've said in this thread already, please don't let bias get in the way of checking out this book. I know the Red Hulk is loathsome to most of comicdom, but it's a really good book. very different to what people might expect. We don't have nonsense like him punching Watcher in the face or killing supporting Hulk characters every other issue any more.

and if it gets cancelled i will cry!

I'd post some examples to show what the book is like but I can't find many scans. the current tone of the book is more like a road movie between the Hulk and Machine Man. They bump into all sorts of characters along the way like Arabian Knight, Sersi and Ikaris, the Legion of Monsters and soon Alpha Flight.

Then I have a fair few issues to pick up.

Never read the original Machine Man stuff, but I absolutely adored him in Nextwave and he was the best thing about the Ms Marvel series
